Hi all, new to the forum and doing my France homework-

For those that keep hens where did you get your young birds/chicks from- also- how much are you paying for layer's pellets?

We had a neighbour who gave us a few hens and a c0ck, nature did the rest. However, there is a local market that sell live stock; hens and ducks and rabbits etc. Pellets and corn...we pay around 22€ (total) for 25kg of corn and I think 15kg of pellets from Gamm Vert

Same as Honeysuckle for buying the hens. you might have to wait a while before they settle in and start laying. The white ones (like Sussex) do better for laying than the brown barenecks, which we've found are better for eating.

For the food, you might find that the nearest agricoop are cheaper. We don't buy layer's pellets, just maize concassé mixed with wheat (blé).

I go to the local Terres Du Sud/Gamm Vert and buy a big bag of corn, and also a bag of 'poule pondeuse' mix.
