Deby
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/8868935.stmMy experience of the French education system mirrors to some degree the same comments that the author has described.I know the system suits some children here, but it certainly didn't suit mine. The UK system isn't perfect, but it does give children scope and options. My Swiss friend (french-speaking) despairs at the system in France too describing it as antiquated and truly rubbish! Her daughter's teacher has on average missed two days a week for the past 3 months either as a result of striking or illness. The striking incidentally is to preserve their job benefits and to maintain the current antiquated system.

vwill88
I had a friend who taught a course in business studies in LaRochelle. Students would ask "what is the right answer?" They couldn't cope with the idea of there being no one right answer. I think that is reflection of French education methods.
