Bobthebuilder
Any knowledgeable car people out there who can advise?I'm considering buying a Ford Explorer LHD from a friend in the UK. It has been imported from the USA and had duty paid into the EU. It still bears US plates. However, that's not an issue. The question concerns LPG. I'd like to know whether the beefy 4.0 ltr petrol engine could be converted to more economical LPG? If so, do you know whether it would be easier (for whatever reason) to make the conversion in the UK or in France?Any advice very much appreciated.Kind regards,Bob
Boghound
Enquire in UK first as fitments might be a problem.
Paulal
Contact greenfuel.org.uk. They have just quoted us 2,555.63 (including vat) to convert our Ford Explorer North Face to LPG. This will be a dual fuel conversion. They will work out what it will save you per year based on your current petrol consumption - we apparantly will save 1,007.79 per year if we convert to LPG. Still thinking about it, Paula
Lagaragiste
Do Not under any circumstances consider a gas kit installation prior to importing the vehicle to France as it will have to have a cert of conformity and the French have very strict regulations on GPL systems as well as a dislike of any component not produced in France. We have actually had to remove systems on vehicles that we have imported.SO BEWARE!!!!for more info contact [email protected]We are a British owned French Registered Garage based in Dept
David584
Makes me wonder how the French authorities would react to someone wishing to register a Vauxhall duel fuel vehicle,i.e. one that has been purposely built by the manufacturer as a duel fuel vehicle such as the Vauxhall Astra?
