Motor electrical factors

Does anybody know if such a thing exists in France? I am wanting to get hold of various stuff for our van which we are in the process of converting to a camper and am hoping to find it cheaper at a motor electrical factor than at Brico!

If you tell us in which area you are looking (are you near the Spanish border?) then I am sure somebody could point you in the right direction. From my experience of local factors though I doubt that you would find them any cheaper than where you have been looking. If you want to save money, it would be best to order what you need from England, via Ebay for example, or get somebody to bring it over.

You might want to consider using electrical devices that are specifically designed for use in camping cars rather than automobile or domestic Brico applications. For example, electrical control panels, 12v lighting, pumps, split charging relays and so on....

Thanks for that Mr Driver, but the hubby actually drove back from the UK in the van with the majority of bits & pieces that we need, but the wire/cable that he was given was the wrong guage.It is that that we now urgently need to source.

They do mail order to France, the service was very fast and they were significantly cheaper than anything I could find locally.

I second that, I once had a contract to make kit car wiring looms and hence spent a lot of time negotiating with many suppliers to get the best prices for the materials as it directly affected my boittom line, in nearly every case vehicle wiring products catalogue prices remained the cheapest.

It is specialised mail order companise like that that I so miss in France, I often whip out their catalogue to show my french friends when explaining the ever growing range of specialist retailers in the UK, one woud have hoped that with the internet, ebay shops and auto-entrepeneur at least some French companies would have followed suit but it seems tradition is hard to shake off.

If you suffer from the sama maladie as I do then I advise you to skip the web age with the cable prices [;-)]

It stills sickens me now to be reminded about my one purchase from Auto-distribution 4 or 5 years ago, some front brake pads, especially as a week after fitting them I found my set, that I was certain I had in stock, in my cellar [:(]

Alas I fear that there is only one cure for my maladie, money and lots of it, which I do indeed plan to have one day but I think that the damage is already irreparable and the condition irreversable [:D]
