Short Term car insurance for UK visit

Normally I have hired a car on my return visits to the UK, but this time my sis has offered the use of her car. However she cannot get me as an additional driver on her insurance as I dont have a UK license I passed my test there 25 years ago, and changed to a french llicense five years ago, most short term insurance policy ask for a UK licensee. Anyone had this problem and found an insurer?

Tried these and they say no. Is there a difference between a French licence and an EU one? I Have the pink Paper one exchanged from a UK one. I have a quote from Aviva £105 for 5 days, to hire a car with Hertz £78

A French licence is an EU one, just as a UK one is.

That's just bonkers, of course a French licence is an EU one, are they dense or what ?
