Obligatory light fittings

Since buying our house in the Ariege over two years ago we are still looking like a building site and are suffering from not being on hand to push work along. We would like to know if anyone else has had the new "obligatory " light fittings set up in their homes. Apart from the fact that the light is situated on the side of the ceiling attachment we are wondering how light shades are attached. It seems to us that the light will always look lop sided whatever shade we find?

We have also had a new fosse septique fitted and at times it absolutely stinks. Could this be something to do with the washing machine?

I'm not clear on what you mean by an 'obligatory' light fitting - I've never heard of such a thing, although someone else will probably know better. What is it like?

As for the fosse, it shouldn't smell - have you activated it by putting sachets of bacteria into the flush? If not, try something like Eparcyl from any supermarket. It's important not to kill the bacteria off, so be careful that any cleaning products are suitable for fosses septiques, and that nothing but waste, water and toilet roll gets flushed down.

Are you talking about the temporary light socket fitted, you cut them off when you are ready to install your proper lighting and fit a light fitting,if it on a sloping ceiling think about a spot light cut into the ceiling with a swivel mount

Have you put an activator into the septic tank put in 2 or 3 dodes of eparcyl or similar and then 1 per week
