Replacement Windows

We are wanting to replace the windows in our house in the Creuse. We're after 8 fairly standard uPVC units. Can anyone tell me what sort of cost I am looking at? Obviously, I'm only after a "ballpark" figure, but ideas and recommendations are all welcome! Thanks, Steve

Ours came from "Ets Forgeneuve" at Tous Vents near Piegut-Pluviers in Northern Dordogne.

M.Forgeneuve came to us, measured up, and the windows were made to measure, to our design, (to match others in the area), and to our specification as regards opening, handles etc.

They cost an average of €250 each, fitted. Quality is as good, or better than UK ones.

Were these uPVC windows?  We need to replace ours sooner rather than later, but would like wood ones.  We are near Bourganeuf.

We are near Bourganeuf andf we got all our windows from Lapeyre in

Limoges thay have different grades and both wood and PVC as well as

doors and other similar bits, relatively cheap and seem to be excellent

quality. They do provide a comprehensive catalogue which we have loaned

to lots of visitors to our campsite who wished to refurbished houses

but - in the nature of things , my copy has disappeared.

Yes, uPVC, but he does hardwood ones too, both in standard sizes and made to measure. He also does shutters and Persillennes.

Just had a quick scan through the Bricoman catalogue, and they claim "over 2000 windows in stock" in both wood and uPVC. Prices vary, of course, but some typical ones are:

Twin-opening 100 cms x 125 cms uPVC: 130 euros
Twin-opening 100 cms x 155 cms uPVC: 150 euros
Twin-opening 120 cms x 155 cms uPVC: 170 euros

They also offer the kind that either open conventionally, or with a twist of the handle, hinge from the base instead. Solid wood are marginally cheaper. We fitted one ourselves (90 cms x 175 cms @ 140 euros) in a day, no problem. The only thing we needed to buy extra were the screws (with integral wallplugs - hammer in part way then screw the rest) and a suitable handle.
