Unrealistic renovation prices on TV

I'm sure this must have been covered before somewhere, but does anyone else find themselves rolling on the floor with laughter at some of the prices quoted on TV shows for renovating properties in France? You know the sort of thing:

"Here we have an extra benefit - wow! - there's a mouldy old bit of barn at the back of the garage and I got a bloke in the village to say he'd be able to put 3 en-suite bedrooms and a kitchinette in here for about 2000 euros!"

(OK, maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but I'm sure you all know what I mean......)

I often think that when these satellite channels repeat

fairly old programs it would be helpful if they made the date the program was

made more obvious (particularly for e.g. the “Place in the Sun” type programs

that run for quite a few years).  It

would help the viewers, though might emphasise how out-of-date the programs are

they are showing !

[quote user="Gyn_Paul"]The rot starts with the fact that most of these programmes have been around for 3 or 4 years. The gulible hear only the (now) ludicrous prices, and never stay long enough to read "© Channel 4, 2001" !

Exactly. The TV companies ought to have to retitle it "A place in the sun 2001" etc.
