Replacement marble top for bathroom basin unit.

A friend has had the misfortune to break the marble top of her bathroom

unit which has 2 oval sinks set into it.  Does anyone have any

ideas on how she could get a replacement without having to buy a whole

new unit?  I understand that Funeral Directors could probably

provide the marble - but I doubt they would have the equipment to cut

the two oval holes. Any ideas anyone?

Monumental masons may be able to do the holes as well. If you look at how ornate some French funerary monuments (I hesitate to say just 'gravestones' here) are then a couple of oval holes should be a doddle.

Out of interest, are the edges of the holes visible or covered by the basin trim? This would make a difference in how much work is involved.
