Anybody had replacement windows recently in Manche area, and approximate cost ? It is theoretically better to use wood, but if we are to keep our maison secondaire running indefinitely we're going to have to minimize the maintenance..... Cat Posted September 22, 2007 Share Posted September 22, 2007 You're not limited in choice to wood or UPVC, what about aluminium? We've got cream coloured alu window fames, and I think they look pretty good. One real advantage (apart from the low maintenance) is that they are strong and rigid, so don't need to be as thick and bulky as UPVC ones.Obviously though, a lot depends on the style of your house.
