Roof coating

We found a company at a "maisons et habitation" exhibition who were advertising and demonstrating a waterproofing roof coating for old roofs. The effect was certainly good to look at but we wonder if anyone has used this company and how satisfied they were.  We are fairly sure they only operate in the Brittany/Normandy area.  The website is www.technitoit.com.

How funny, we just had a new roof put on with reclaimed tiles however, we had to use new tiles for our garage roof and I have been trying to think of ways to make them look like the before picture of the terra cotta tiles on the site you give a link. I have thought of spraying yogurt on them. But perhaps it is different if you make new tiles look old versus if you feel that your old tiles are just to porous. I will be interested to see any responses you get as well.

No more replies so obviously no-one has done this!    Yes WJT our slates are now porous (or so the roofer says...) It seems that the moss etc makes the slates porous so I don't think that deliberately making tiles look old is a very good idea!

"Man" coming tomorrow to discuss this and give us a quote so will post again then.

Sorry I wasn't much help. [:$] Just a thought, because there is a back wall with a drain that our roofer suggested we spray with a specialist product you can buy at the brico sheds that is meant to seal it and make it waterproof. I have had a look and they are also designed for roof tiles. If your devis is very expensive perhaps you could consider using this sort of product.

Hopefully someone else with some experience will respond but will be interested to hear about your devis.

Man came, looked at our roof and after lots of prodding (up a ladder) has said that they would not be willing to do the work with their coating product.  This is because our roof was "mousse" sprayed for insulation (by a very reputable UK firm who also worked in France) and therefore it is impossible to move any slates to replace broken/damaged ones which is what they do before applying the coating.

Our roof does not leak and the tiles will not blow off but they do not look good which is why we wanted to coat them.

Never mind - it was a good idea at the time.
