replacing insert

Hi Vissac

We had exactly the same thing, fake chimney breast and very old insert which wasn't actually inserted just sat on the hearth. We took it out ourselves, had someone come and fit a new liner in the chimney and installed a new woodburning stove. The only difficulty came when trying to insert the new stainless steel liner as the existing terracotta chimney piping when installed had a slight kink in it. Fortunately we had gone for top quality liner which is quite heavy duty and with some push me pull me force and a man on the roof and man on the hearth, we got it through without damaging it, a lighter weight liner may have torn.
