Discoloration of cheminée

My cheminée, or at least the bit of it I can see from the poele to the ceiling, has gone from shiny silver to dullish bronze in colour in just a few months of having it and the poele installed from new.  Is this normal?  Is it ok or about to explode?!

Thanks! [:)]

It's perfectly normal and the same as what happens to nice shiny chrome motorcycle exhausts. It's commonly termed "blooming"

The trick is to polish it free of fingerprints and other greasy marks BEFORE you start to use it otherwise thay can get burnt in and both look unsightly and be difficult to polish out without leaving an equally unsightly patch where you have polished.

I think youy can sleep easy safe in the knowledge that it is NOT going to "blow up" though [:D]
