  1. Hi, thanks for the hint, was going to order it from Amazon, but wandering around Castorama this afternoon, found and purchased it there. Himself is now busy complete with dictionary. !
  2. I know probably been done to death this subject! But need help! We have what seems like  a huge grease separator, 1000litre um... which nothing goes in. I know this is wrong and the sink waste should not be going into the surface water ditch outside the property, along with a lot of other washbasin water. This is how we bought the house, it had been surveyed and passed! Anyway we will put this right, of course. Anyway what size of grease separator should we need, one kitchen sink, probably one dish-washer in the distant future serving a family of four. If we move it, as is the plan, with all the correct waste being diverted to it we thought we could get a smaller one.
  3. Doe´s anyone want several rooms worth of metal studding of the type covered in plaster board? Also similar marerial to suspend plaster board ceilings with at least one house worths suspension rods and brackets. I don´t want this material but it seems a shame to throw it away, can be collected from  area  47. Some other surplus building supplies may interest other restorers.
  4. For many years I was used to wiring in the UK single strand copper insulated and secondly insulated in groups phase, neutral and earth.I then became very used to  the Spanish system ,multi-strand wire single insulation but enclosed in groups in plastic conduit ,flexible or ridgid. I now find myself facing wiring in France which appears to be a combination of the two. Can anyone tell me when cable or conduit is appropriate or is it a matter of expediency or operator choice. Also light switch points appear higher above the ground than in Spain ,is this a rule or local custom? Finally, are there new rules in France about socket heights from floor?
  5. Yikes! no shampoo?? No way!! Have medium length, thick, curly hair which I blow dry and have to stick in place when i go out and want to feel good. But do various dirty, dusty sweaty jobs and no-way would just water shift the muck, sorry I´ll stick with the ´poo´!!
  6. Hi Bubbles, we are in Los Gigantes. West Coast of Tenerife, and while we are not as cold as we will be it is cold this winter, I am wearing a fleece in the mornings while the tourists stroll around in shorts and T-Shirts  Bbbrrrrr!!
  7. Looks like I will be seeing you in Boots then!! But I have noted your help Nell. Mind you the house has such basic washing facilities , which will get worse before better, I´ll be stuck for water first! I can see myself wearing a tasteful paperbag over my head!
  8. Just noticed the above post on British Food. We are about to move to our new home in France and are looking forward to learning to survive with the French versions of everything, just as we did with Spanish items when we arrived in Spain 16years ago. But having scoured the shelves in a few supermarkets I cannot find hair conditioner, I´m going to become a crystal tips lookalike!! Am I going blind? I really don´t want to have to buy gallons of it when visiting the UK. I can survive without pot noodles, PG tips.... well maybe not, bisto and everlasting sliced white loaf, but my hair products ?? aaarrgghh!!
  9. So much easier than here!  Thankyou for your help.
  10. Thankyou for your help, rules exactly the same as here, but with a different sticker. Will abide by them. Here we can only purchase the appropriate stickers at the driving school that she learnt with. Where can we, on arrival purchase a Macaron ? Sorry should have included that question in my original post. Annoyingly she has just received her full licence to much excitment through the post, some idiot at the police station has put she was born in Argentina, so now we have to apply for a fresh one, the ink ain´t even dry!!
  11. 23º here, but then we are in Tenerife, going to find it chilly when we move to France, but can´t wait.
  12. My daughter has just passed her driving test,(phew!) in Spain, if she was staying here she would have to drive for a year with a green L displayed on the rear of the car. However we are about to move to live in France, she will come with us but hoping to return to Spain for University in the latter part of 2009. So not becoming  a permenant resident in France, but still a new driver, what rules will she need to follow while she is in France, she will turn 19 in January and really hoping for our first French Birthday!
