  1. Whwn we were looking to buy all the houses were damp even the "done up ones" . We are going to put in an elecro-osmotic course. If the Dpc is done right it should not be damp BY RISING DAMP but you may be getting penetrating damp or condensation. In England many DPC. firms did poor jobs - even when guaranteed - don't know what the firms are like in France - IF REGISTERED they should give a 10 year guarantee Check!!!!
  2. "Nice" is in the eye of the beholder - you will have to be more specific. The Limousin is inexpensive but you have to pick and choose, rolling hills, rivers, little rural lanes.
  3. Basically everything works except TV and Videos unless they work on SECAM (one of our TV's - a portable one we used in a caravan - works in France) Search the archives for more info
  4. For what its worth we are moving to the limousin permanently on 13:11:01 and I'm a retired builder. If you are still stuck after that time and worried about a Limousin house give me a ring on 05 55 60 43 96 and I'll try to answer any queries. If it's close I'll even pop over. I'm not interested in any building work at present (as I've got years of work on my own place)so you can rest assured this isn't a sprat to catch a mackerel!
  5. Check first of all that it is a septic tank it is all going into. I just bought two cottages and one sewage system empties into the gully besides the road 100 yards away and the other should discharge into the garden (open ended pipe on grass) except that the pipe is broken as it passes through the garage . The only thing to go into the septic tank are that which goes through you, French toilet paper, and allowed chemicals (read the label first)
