Well said Ken, and to be fair even fresh food are often sprayed with chemicals or, as in the case of fruit "gassed".. In the early 50s, my family moved to Canada and I attended school there. I remember being told that children in the UK had the best teeth in the world, due to our wartime diet.
  2. Good luck with that. Our daughter decided she wanted to be a vegetarian so we accommodated her preferences at home. Six months later she went to Aix en Provence Uni to further her French studies and found it was completely impossible to carry on with a Veggie regime. I worked in an industry that every day always had a vegetarian option on the menu for lunch, I very often would eat it and indeed enjoyed it. What I do find annoying about most Vegetarians is that when they come to peoples homes to eat, nearly always their diet is respected, unfortunately, it doesn't often work the other way round. I think the French idea of a Vegetarian meal is to scrape the meat off the plate. ???
  3. I think you'll find that in Spain like France there were thousands of people living under the radar for years. These people have now had to become legal or they will get treated like the latest influx of 6000 illegals trying to get into Spain Of course there will always be the odd case like the German who you highlighted. I just find it sad that people troll the internet looking for bad news stories. As the song said try looking on the bright side of life. The residency card situation is because in the UK nobody has a card, I wish they did it would save the NHS untold money from health tourists.
  4. What's the problem? if you don't have the correct paperwork you will get stopped whether you're in France or the UK. It ain't rocket science. As for the connection I thought as you mentioned the EU you might have an interest in how the Spanish are treating illegals, but obviously not, as it appears you are only intent on publishing bad news about the UK, no surprise there then, coming from you.???
  5. What has this got to do with the attestation mentioned in the original post? I notice you don't mention 6000 people invading Spanish territory and the response by the Spanish military and police. Your agenda is duly noted. ??
  6. The bastion of accuracy and truthfulness, not, the Connexion has put the cat among the pigeons today. it reports that two French lawyers say that the attestation for UK visitors to french residents homes, isn't actually necessary, interesting? ?? Anglo/French Facebook groups will be in meltdown tonight. ??
  7. Well B&B following your prompt, I did some research and yes it's true they are doing exactly what they should do. I'm glad to see my tax money is being used correctly it's a pity some other countries don't follow suit. It's only news because they are EU nationals. After all, being an EU national or resident doesn't give you any special treatment at most custom posts. I do recall Italy locks up people who don't have the correct paperwork and as for trying to enter the USA or Australia without papers, forget it.
  8. I've spent some time reading various arguments outside of this forum I might add, about this attestation. The opinions are so varied it's difficult to decipher who you think may be correct. For what it's worth I think it will be almost like the breathalyser kit ruling, quickly swept aside by French indifference. After all, do they really want to alienate desperately needed tourists? The pro, it is correct mob, keep on bleating that it has been in action for years for any non-EU visitors, well nobody told me or my Australian relatives when they stayed with us a couple of years ago. All I do know is that when we went to America a couple of years ago we had to declare at the border the first-night destination, so possibly something like that might be on the cards. Also, lots of people come over in camping cars and have no set itinerary so what do they do? Another interesting situation will be for tourists arriving in France to transit into Spain or Portugal. The whole concept is flawed and almost ungovernable.
  9. A few years ago I was working with a French Colleague in the UK. He said; "I hear you have bought a house in France" and we got into a discussion about the buying/selling process in both countries, he then made what I thought was a very astute statement, He said: "the difference is, that in England you buy a house to sell, in France you buy a house to live in for life and pass on to your family". Low and behold this afternoon I was chatting to a French neighbour and he told me he had lived in his house since he was born 70 years ago.
  10. Anything goes wrong in France, just blame Brexit. What the flipping 'eck? She has a French driving licence and has French Nationality and she blames Brexit. Your question Lehaut should be, do they get extra for writing such drivel, well, yes they do as Politico is an EU propaganda sheet. Unfortunately in today's media coverage, it's very difficult to find a non-biased opinion. ?
