  1. No Raindog...the drama queens are out in their glory looking for a little trouble. The neighbours cat is much more fun than you lot when you get moody.
  2. Well Tressy do people in London enjoy getting paid about seven pounds per hours before tax [maybe less] stacking shelves in Tesco?  8 pounds per hour...[net of tax] doing work around the garden could be acceptable/enjoyable.Not everyone in Uk or here can demanad high earnings. You can be earning 200 euros an hour and if you do not like your work you may not enjoy it...Seems like this topic is over...a few of you are in a bad mood and you are letting off steam.   Not too sure how many people have about 200 euros per day to spend on a gardener.
  3. Running a buisness is not simple anwhere. No need for personal attacks on this forum.....   ..
  4. Off you all go again! This chap worked for the previous owner and is not going to be someone who I  will employ on an ongoing bases.I know what his net requirement is.He is not a gradener or someone who is really interested in gardens.....   I want someone to work for me[in the near future]who enjoys gardening. I am still not doing anything wrong! As long as I pay the worker and the tax everything else is my choise....
  5. When we first moved here we rented for a few months....did not need an odd job man...fire wood was added to the bill by the landlord. The odd job man has been helping for a total of 12 hours so far in the garden and is waiting[anxiously...I might add]to be paid with his cheque emploi. At this moment in time I am not running a buisness.....will be several months on from now. When I do I will employ a garden hand a few hours some weeks and a cleaner a few hours a week on my busy days.....If cheque emploi is not ok my accountant will advise me.....I will be seeing him a few times before I commence my buisness trading. So Tressy what problem do you you have with this?!
  6. Please do not get me wrong! The confusion I have is not related to what I know...it is mainly down to what I have learnt of the expectations of other British people who are looking for work attending to a garden[some knowledge...but not so much ]and are expecting 200 euros per day.The French seems to charge around 16 euro [inclu tax]So I feel that some people are not realistic about their concept of earnings.A chamber maid here in France will not earn 40 euros per hour here...and certainly not in uk.I know someone in the Midlands who is on basic pay....less than 6 pounds per hour!No holiday pay....... or sickness benefit....no tax paid.....very little pension. She remains in this job because there is no other job for her and apparently there is a queue of imigrant workers who will accept a slightly lower rate. Not exactly the same situation here in France is it.[no question mark...retorical ] Do your best...work as hard as you can...pay your taxes and you can not do any more than try Getting down to the Nitty gritty here with the tax......I have NO intention of employing someone in the Black.I have known about chque emploi years before I moved here.My book will arrive at my bank in less than two weeks time.
  7. yes, so thats about right. So I guesse we....British should not be too expectant?
  8. My friend[French]lives in 33 like me...she tells me that many people in the area take home no more than 300 euros per week. I am looking for a gardener...part-time[paid by cheque-emploi] method and I have been quoted  something like 200 euros for a days work[English people] Although I would be happy to pay someone this money...I actiually feel that it is not realistic in my circumstances and relation to the current climate.Surely I would find myself in deep trouble trying to make ends meet with a fincial commitmet like this.Maybe I have to stay with my French odd job person whos charges are more realistic for me.
  9. So who is in a more comfortable position? The young man working for Meril Lynch in the City of London, the couple in their fifties who have a few buy to let properties[he has retired early to write a book"how to make money in Shoreditch"]the working class couple;she works part time in Tesco and  [whilst the kids are at school] and he is a buider working for a large company of developers....or finally the couple who have moved away to France to open a gite and riding school in Landes..she was a teacher in uk...speaks 3 languages .[no mortage to pay and savings]. Is it going to be crazy to have savings in uk? Better to invest in a property......for rental?
  10. What is a fair hourly wage for a gardener...working part-time paid by cheque-emploi?
  11. Good arears...like Russets houses part of the world will still achieve easy sales. But agents still need to be sesable with their pricing
  12. What is the average rate for a cleaner 2 hours per day. Gardener 3/4 hours per week?via check emploi
  13. Enlighten me please. All the foods sold on market stalls....are they working within the rules of health and safety. People handling food should use...disposable polygloves......and not handle money, pens etc...cross contamination. Even healthinspectors in uk seem to miss a lot of detail wrong,Thed most unhygenic things in the world are articles which have been handled by others...money etc.
  14. As long as it makes your day brighter...then perhaps I will not spoil your fun!!!!!!!! By the way what is the rate for odd jobs in the garden......please...boys and girls.
  15. What on earth is personal about cutting grass and collecting /scooping leaves? Please advise!!!!!!!!!
  16. Morning...Using cheque-employ...what is a reasonable rate for a cleaner? And someone who does odd jons around the garden.....and how does the tax paying work....thanks.
  17. oohps bad typing again...
  18. I am listiening to what you say. Much of the population of Europe.....and wealthy Americans will still take holidays...and  will look for something nice. The days of pine clad rooms are possibly over...people want from a holiday[most of the time] something more special, different than what they can get  at home. Nothing will be easy when money becomes less fluid. Everyone tries their best to do their best. Positive thinking is imerative. I know that this is what works because I have had to create that enviroment to stay alive.....and all the people who have been negativc towards anyone in their past should examine their lives and  make a few adjustements. There is nothing wrong with reaching out to others for advise, communication....thats the essance of life and running a succesful buisness.
  19. surely if Spain is doing well this year it is nothing to do with the euro? There will be problems.....I guesse. This year the fuel costs have reflected in the bank A/C...... Is it cheaper to rent a gite in Spain? The lower end of the holiday market will always be pressureised.....
  20. on the very edge of Holland park and Shepherds Bush....The K West Hotel...very central ...bus 4 mins away to Marble arch...High Street Kensington is possibly walkable.Should be favourably priced. Hilton Holland Park?
  21. Sadly so many partnerships  link  to create a string of children...who in turn, at a very young age produce more children ....they all seem to grow up with an adoration for wearing fashion of the moment, a diet which only includes fast foods and no concept to design or look to the future...or  search for work. From this patten of life forming breeds the trouble. It is not something to mock....it is not related just to uk....but it is linked with an ignorance which is very sad and often distructive.
  22. We had used Hertz on many occassions...however last year we arrived in Bergerac....waited at the desk...showed our reservation details. The credit card was not accepted[due to the bank and their fraud procedure....but in error had not carried out my request "unblock use of card".The only other card which we had was mine[I am not the driver...so they would not take it]they were not prepared to accept cash or our French cheque. This left us stranded .......the neighbouring company [not linked with Ryanair]was just about to close.....I rushed in and sorted everything within a few  mins..... Hertz were rather rude and certainly did not get our visit off to a great start.Thank goodness the rudness stops there. Yesterday in a small French city we received an expression of kidness.
