  1. It will soon be on your rescue site, Christine, knowing what a softie you are with lost animals  [:)] [:)]
  2. What a very proud looking boy. You are so lucky, he is a magnificent looking dog. Yes, well  done Dog , you did a good job planting the seed into Anne's mind and I am sure she will be eternally thankful for that.  We are down to one dog now and OH is still saying No More Dogs but watch this space. [:)]
  3. Aaahhh !!!! How gorgeous is he. A really lovely baby, many congratulations.[:D]
  4. Another mature gentleman has found a loving home. Brilliant news. [:D]  [:D]
  5. Do you know roughly how old he is, Christine ?  He does look a mature gentleman but, Oh my, those sad, sad eyes. It is enough to break my heart so PLEASE  someone help him. I just adore Cocker Spaniels as you may have guessed.
  6. He looks so very sad and bewildered but unfortunately we are not in a position at this time to have another Cocker Spaniel. Please, someone take him home with you as he will be such a wonderful companion. They are a lovely breed and so loving.

What  a lovely person you are, Russethouse. I can now pass all this info onto them and I have suggested that they log into the link that you sent to me to clarify any questions they may have. Thank you.

Yes, that is the name and thank you for the link.
  9. Or you can buy McVities digestives in the French section of supermarkets now for 1 euro 40c.  seems expensive but a little treat now  and again. The French were buying them, check out the advert on UTube it is hilarious.

    baby milk

Our son, wife and 11 month old are coming over in August. The baby is now on " follow on " milk so can this be bought here ? If yes, what is it called and do most supermarches stock it. If not she will have to bring two weeks supply with her. The one she buys in UK begins with an A, cannot remember the actual name of it so one similar here would be an advantage.
  11. So you are going to have a little Joe, how lovely is that. Our Grandson, Joe, has just passed the audition for the Royal Marine Band service and he starts his training in September so you will have years of being proud of your Joe ans so much to look forward to. Chin up, it can only get better.
  12. Poor you, yes, have that tooth pulled and then you will feel so much better. Trust me, I know as I have lost several teeth to abcess and the relief when it comes out is undescribable. The new baby will bring so much joy to both of your lives and although the sad loss of your Fathe-rin-Law is terrible, the new baby will give you both something to focus on. This time next month you both will feel so much better and full of joy for your new arrival. Let us know all about the arrival...boy or girl...weight..everything as we are all there for you.
  13. Right or wrong, Benjamin, I know for a fact that the amount in my shopping trolley now compared with three years ago is a lot less for the same amount of money. My daughter and her family vissited us last August and she was amazed at thepricesof certain things. So much so, this year they are going to the USA to visit her sister there as the exchange rate is so much better. When I go back to England I am gobsmacked at some of the food prices and also to eat out as well, Eat as much as you like Chinese, which is excellent, for £5. We hardly ever eat out over here now as the prices are too high, we are on pensions, and have lost over a third due to the exchange rate. So all in all, maybe we should have stayed in England but I know my OH would live on bread and water before he ever went back.

    weed killer

Almost a third done to date, by hand. They are coming out quite well and not as bad as I thought it would be. So, nothing nasty being used and all veggies should be fine to eat in the winter. Thank you all for taking time to reply.
  15. If they do eventually open on a Sunday it will  not be  law that you HAVE to shop. Go shopping if the need is there or have a quiet day instead. All down to personal choice.

    weed killer

I will need more than a G&T after doing it. Probably a long hot soak and then a Zimmer frame and then a gallon of the red stuff to help me sleep..[:D] [:D]

    weed killer

Oh my gosh. That is so scary so it looks as though it will be a lot of digging then. Think of me, won't you, especially in this hot weather.

    weed killer

Having spent over 5 weeks in UK the weeds in my veggie plot were as expected, almost as tall as me. I had not planted anything knowing we were going to be away. My question is can I use a weed killer that would kill the weeds BUT would not interfere with my winter planting. If anyone knows of something I can use please let me know. I am not usually one for using such things but this is an emergency as I am afraid my back would not cope with all that weeding.
  19. So very sad to hear of your loss. It is so hard to bear at times but it really does hurt less as time goes  on.
  20. I am not bothered that much if the shops open or close on a Sunday as at present we know they are closed so we adjust our lives accordingly. Equally so, we normally go out about 2-30p.m. so that everything is open for the afternoon when we arrive at certain shops. We have lunch before we set off and normally arrive home in time to cook dinner so I don't see it is a problem. Yes, in the UK it is nice to know that most large supermarkets are open all hours but I did not shop at weird hours then so do not feel the need to do the same over here and if I know the shops are closed then I don't get there too early. Being retired helps I know and it must be awkward for folk who work over here but it is really a question of organising life around these things. I worked full time in England so I did a fairly big shop once a week and that worked well for me.
  21. At the ripe old age of 13 years could you not see it in your heart to just bear with him. I know my  old lady at the age of 14 years was quite happy to just eat and sleep so maybe even with a new baby he should not really require too much from you. I am not judging you in any way but I know the pain we felt when we had  to have our old girl put to sleep.  I wish you luck in hopefully finding him a loving home to spend his few remaining years.

    riccotta

Thank you for that, JayJay. I fancy making a Ricotta Cheesecake.

    riccotta

Is it the same name in French as in English ?  I have tried the translation site and it does not change so I assume as it is not a French cheese that the name stays the same and does anyone know where it can be purchased to save a lot of leg work for me.
  24. WHAT !!!!!!   [:D] [:D]  Phew that was all so intense, I prefer the wine and chill bit personally.
  25. No sympathy from me either. Killing any animal for sport is barbaric so they got what they deserved.
