    sausage meat

I tried BBC recipes but nothing came up but I will keep trying. We had an ex butcher who lived close by and he made them for his family and also gave us some now and again. OH boy, were they good, but he was elderly and has now gone back to live in the UK and has taken his recipe with him.......we are getting withdrawl symptons hence trying to find a good recipe so that we can attempt them ourselves as well as the homemade bread, vegetable soup, pies and fish cakes  etc etc etc.
  2. Does anyone have a good  recipe for making sausages. Someone out there might have a family "heirloom " recipe that they would pass on but I will try "google" as well.
  3. Debra   Can you pm me your email address as i am having problems getting back to you
  4. Debra   I have received your PM but I am having problems with computer and although I have sent a PM and an email to you  they keep coming back to me. We have a chap coming to look at it during the next few days so hopefully I will be able to respond properly but in the mean time you may well receive the email as it is saying "delayed "
  5. My husband has been stopped three times since we have been here and breathalized and this was mid afternoon, fortunately, he was OK as he does not drink very much and never during the day.  The last time he was stopped he was fined for speeding and he tried to explain that we had a leak and I was sat with my finger in the hole in the pipe  and he was dashing to the shop to buy the bits to repair it but to no avail. He was fined  90  euros on the spot but he said the Gendarme was a very polite young man and after explaining the situation the Gandarme just smiled and gave the "Galic Shrug" which  OH  took as...tough
  6. Hello   We moved here with a Pajero, which is classed as a  "grey import "  and we were told that we would have major problems getting French plates. We went through the process and it took us about three months and we had no hiccups at all and it did not cost a fortune either. We have seen loads of 4x4's that are right hand drive and have French plates on them so maybe it will not be a major problem for you.
  7. Thank you, Peter G  I love Niort so a good excuse to go.  Thank you also for the Leader Price web site.
  8. I know there is a Leader Price close to Civray  dept  86 but does anyone know of one in Deux Sevres. We live close to Melle so the one at Civray is not too great a distance but one closer would be great and YES I have tried to Google it but I am not too clever on the net and I will leave that to all you clever ones out there.
  9. Magnolia    WHEN  OH  WHEN will the civilized world step in and stop these barbarians from their sadistical attitude towards these poor defencesless dogs.  It sickens me to think that, as I look at my two dogs both rescue lying by the fire having just eaten their dinner, that somewhere today a dog has been tortured . You and all the people out there who are involved in the rescue of these lovely animals are doing such a good job especially when you know it is just the tip of an enormous iceberg.......Keep up the good work and I am sure someone out there will offer a loving home to this lovely little man.
  10. It is orange fr.simm card so we have a French number and as I explained, Benjamin, if we do not top it up each month we loose all the euros on it...hense trying to find a better system, one that we maybe just pay for the line and then calls we make which are almost none to date. We even let visitors use it to phone UK to get rid of some of the money on it.
  11. Thanks for that and we will read the info but wondered if there was anything that elimiated an expiry date and just meant paying an amount each month.
  12. At present paying 15euros a month to support an orange 'pay as you go' mobile, if I don't top up in time I lose whatever has built up on phone which has been as high as 100euros. The phone is only maintained for emergencies when out and about. Anyone know of a cheaper way of financing a mobile and that doesn't need topping up on such a regular basis.
  13. When you have all bought the straw, hat and costume i will have what is left  !!!!!!!!    I am only taking pity on him and I will make him some clothes
  14. For those of you who are wondering what the banter about "throws " is all about, ask Pads to put them on the forum if she can do it.
  15. frenchie    you promised you would not use my photo on the forum as i have no stockings on
  16. Hello Mooky,  Are you joking or is threre really belly dancing lessons. I had a go many years ago in Turkey, mind you I had sunk a few drinks at the time but I did get applauded, probably thought crazy English woman and our youngest son walked back to the accommodation on his own....wonder why  ?
  17. Thanks Pads...you already know how many times I have been shopping of late.   Cathy....shall  I bring the chain saw  ?  Retail therapy....I agree but spent out now.
  18. Thanks for that Cendrillon, I meant something to look forward to doing not something to make me feel sick.  It is a shame that we cannot drink and drive as after a few verr du vin rouge I could drive anywhere....Joke !!!!So I do not want replies telling me off for saying that and I mean no offence to anyone
  19. Many thanks for the link and it looks very interesting.  My French is poor but I am having lessons so I need to do something where I can practise by involving myself more with some outside interest. Thank you all for your replies but the ceiling ...Umm .....not too sure about that one as  OH is starting a building project in the new year and no doubt I will be covered in dust from that.
  20. I am looking forward to visitors for Christmas and then a wedding on the 29th December but once all that is over it then goes somewhat flat for a few months until I start weeding and planting again. Is there anything to stop me getting too bored around the Lezay area in Dept.79, I fancy Salsa dancing but doubt if anything like that so I will settle for anything, fed up with knitting now.
  21. You have surplus  ?   I am lucky if anything ever survives here in France. I planted stacks last summer and virtually nothing at the end of it and also this winter I have planted Sprouts, cauliflower and cabbages and they are the same size as when I planted. I am begining to think it is a better idea to just buy in our local market instead as I spent quite a bit of money buying plants and even strawberry plants from last year did not fruit either.
  22. Londoneye THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!    At last someone who  knows how I feel inside. Yes, I know my life will dramatically change when I do have a go and I really will have a go soon but the fear that I feel is unreal. The previous thread quite rightly said I would need refresher lessons but as my French is really bad and I cannot understand the French when they speak I wonder how we would understand each other. I am determined to have a little drive even if I have to have OH with me...good idea or bad I don't know but at first I think I would feel safer.
  23. Good idea Bugbear ! maybe the way I will be driving it might be better to have an "L" on it and a pole with a red flag on the front and someone walking in front ringing a bell. Joking aside would it be legal for me to have an "A" on the car as I actually passed my test in UK twenty odd years ago....FIRST TIME  I may add.
