  1. Thanks Theiere. We turned the pressure down on the GdS, it is still doing it but not so bad. At least any overflow is going straight into the overflow pipe so touch wood no wet floor (yet).
  2. Can anyone help with the French description for the cage type thing that goes in front of a window, many thanks
  3. The ballon is now 4 years old. We've noticed that water seems to be consistently going into the overflow pipe and making a gurgling noise as it does it. Today we decided to change the security valve to the overflow but unfortunately the problem still persists. Any ideas please?
  4. Thanks all, I managed to get through to them finally but they weren't much help today, unusually. Yes Jay you're right - it is an ENGLISH speaking helpline and normally when I've phoned it has always been an automated message in ENGLISH. Even the ameli site says it's for help with English speakers.
  5. I've tried to contact them today using 3646 and the number to be used if phoning from outside of France, only to find that the automated message is all in French! Maybe I've tried the wrong numbers, I haven't phoned them for a long time but the last time I did phone the message was totally in English. Many thanks
  6. I've never seen cottage cheese in our Lidl's ever, nor anywhere in our supermarkets. Would be very interested to know where you can buy and what it's called.
  7. I don't know why we pay the gp even for ALD appointments I thought this was just standard procedure. At least we get the reimbursement quickly and after all it is only 23€. Minnie some kind professionals do hold fire on presenting cheques quickly, I guess I was just unlucky this time. Anyone remember the days around 12 years ago when you were reimbursed exactly what you paid? It's very confusing now
  8. Yes you're probably right Lindal, I did mention when handing over the cheque that I would wait weeks for reimbursement, the secretary agreed with me! One thing though, normally when I give my CV (say to GP) and pay the 23 euros reimbursement is within a week. With this hospital why did they bother to take my CV and then give me a feuille de soins? Bit confused about that one. Our mutuelle won't refund until CPAM have issued the statement, which of course will take weeks.
  9. What irritates me somewhat is that recently I had a test which cost 289 euros, so I had to give a cheque. They gave me the brown form, even though they asked for my CV. The cheque has already been cashed and I know we will wait weeks for reimbursement from both CPAM and our mutuelle. Meanwhile covering that cost is heavy on the bank account. Don't these hospitals realise that reimbursement is not particularly quick?

    Fibromyalgia?

If anyone has this condition please could I know what treatment is available in France, is it an ALD condition? Thank you
  12. Our daughter is now going into her 3rd year at Uni. She hasn't had to pay any fees so far. In order for her to get the bourse we give income details and as salaried she only gets the minimum awarded because of distance from home to Uni. She also receives a CAF payment. We took out a 3yr student loan to get her started which we've been paying back but she could have started paying when she left Uni and found work, at least this way she won't be in debt as she starts her career.
  13. I had carpel tunnel surgery to my right hand around 16 years ago. The symptoms were severe pins and needles in the whole hand and often a dead hand type feeling. Surgery was done under a local anaesthetic and wasn't too bad but I had my hand strapped up for two weeks after, which made some tasks difficult to do (like going to the toilet is the main one I recall).
  14. I went shopping today at our local Lidl and Carrefour, to find that both shops had been dumped on. By this I mean loads of manure, hay, rubbish and old tyres across the car parks. Lidl had industrial cleaners in to wash off the car park. Apparently it was a nationwide demonstration about the supermarkets marking up prices and making bigger profits than the farmers Did anyone else have this problem today?.
  15. I don't watch channel 5 programmes that often, but last night there was something on that I did want to watch, low and behold no channel 5 service on any of them. Today is fine
  16. Loved your monthly moan Dave, looking forward to next months moan.
  17. Mint we bought the plants when in Spain, I haven't seen them in France unfortunately. They overtake everything if you let them and are very easy to take cuttings from. They dont like the frost though. Perhaps you could look at one of the catalogue garden centres, like Delmond to see if they have them.
  18. Despite being covered with a green net and being sprayed with an all purpose anti maladie treatment, these butterflies and the caterpillars are destroying my brussel sprouts and the leaves which I like to cook as brussel tops. A french friend advised me to use Savon Noir so my question is has anyone tried this and does it work? This morning I've been picking off the caterpillars and tearing the leaves to remove the eggs, a delightful job NOT
  19. Thanks for your reply Betty, I know what you mean about cats preferring to be solitary, the documentaries on TV where they put cams on the cats to watch behaviour showed that neighbourhood cats actually know when to go out to avoid next doors moggie. I don't want to rehome him, not yet anyway, I would hate to send him to the SPA after his neglected life before we had him. I'll continue doing what I have been doing so far - other cats go out (usually at the same time) he comes in or is kept indoors in a different area from the others.
  20. He has been with us for 3 months now and seems to have developed a nasty attitude with our other 3 adult cats. He goes for them, they hit back hissing and growling, but still he goes for them. We have 2 adult males age 12 years and they are quite happy to ignore him but he just won't back off. The other cat is a female aged 4 years. All cats are neutered. The 3 adults tolerate each other without aggression. It's got to the point where I am going to have to keep him in the house in a place away from the others, as his behaviour means no one gets any peace (including me). Any suggestions to bring about peace and calm.
  21. We have citronella plants dotted about in our walled area, along with lots of geraniums. So far, touching wood, we haven't been bitten, except by the little black flies, they give a nasty nip.
  22. Thanks Dave, this is the form I am having difficulty with. Should I just print it off blank and fill in by hand?
  23. Is this document absolutely necessary when a change of ownership means changing the name on the documents? I've followed several links and it always takes me to a page, which I fill in the details and then get the following message: ....Aucun dossier ne correspond à la recherche. L'opération ne peut se poursuivre..... We have the certificate of cession. Can anyone help please? Many thanks
  24. So sorry to hear Norman that your cancer has metasized but hope that the operation goes well and after today you will be clear once again. Glad to hear you are back home Grecian, take it easy and enjoy the sunshine.
