  1. Thank you very much for that prompt reply. I would be interested to see if anyone reading this does indeed know the name of the contract we're talking about. If i can get that sorted, i'll be able to get on to it right away. Thanks again Mr Coeur de Lion
  2. HI, I'M RENTING MY HOUSE OUT SOON AND BOTH PARTIES ARE WILLING TO AGREE TO TERMS PRIVATELY (NOT USING AN AGENT). SO I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A RENTAL CONTRACT THAT I COULD USE, APPROPRIATE TO USE IN FRANCE OF COURSE. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A SITE WHERE I COULD DOWNLOAD A TEMPLATE/CONTRACT? I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOME TIME NOW BUT HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING SUITABLE YET. A LONG SHOT WOULD BE A TEMPLATE/CONTRACT IN ENGLISH, WHICH I GUESS WOULD BE GREAT BUT UNLIKELY. ANY SUGGESTIONS MUCH APPRECIATED. THANK YOU. HAVE A NICE DAY.
  3. Clair thanks for replying so quickly.  I have a bill here for initial connection so i'll have a look and see what i can ascertain from that. Cheers,  Bodie.
  4. Can anyone offer any help please?  I have been connected to EDF with a temporary supply whilst my house is being renovated.  I am obliged to contact EDF in March to have the supply "made permanent".  I have limited French language and so am having difficulty in finding out what tariff i am currently paying.  Do any readers know what i can expect to pay per unit for the temporary supply please?  And will my meter be read during the 6 months temporary supply period? Thanks in advance. Bodie (Charente)
  5. I live in the Charente near Aigre (16).  I want to buy a second hand/used steel shipping/storage container 20'x8' and have it delivered to my home.  Can anyone suggest any firms in or near the Charente who supply these containers please? Thanks, Bodie
  6. I'm living in the Charente near Aigre.  I'm looking for a second hand shipping container (steel) to buy and have delivered to my home. Size 20'x8'.  Do any readers know of anywhere near me that sells and delivers these containers please?   Many thanks Bodie
  7.   Hi L&R   i read your reply about trying AXA for insurance (barn, uninhabitable and ready for renov.) but try as i might i cant locate the department that deals with French home insurance.  Any chance you could give more info, phone number, particular website or anything else that may help. Many thanks, Bodie
  8. Thankyou to everyone who has responded to my post.  I have loads to look into now and am learning with every turn of the page.  You've all been a great help.  Cheers, Bodie.
  9. Thank you but i'm still in the dark.  What exactly is a mutuelle??  Thanks for your help.  Much appreciated.
  10. Hi J & M read your post on the Forum.  I've just purchased too and wondered apart from the one reply about AXA, did you receive any other possible names for insurance?  I have to have insurance from day of completion (about 8 weeks away now) and so am anxious to get "sorted." Thanks, Bodie
  11. Thanx Clair. Not as sharp as i'd like to be.  So if i manage to get an E121 from our DWP and move to France in April, i still wont get access into the French healthcare system?  And i'll then have to provide my own medical insurance for the first 5 years of residency in France?
  12. Hey ErnieY its killing me to know where i got this info.  I'll keep trawling everything i have to see if i can find the source.  I too hope its hearsay or rumour.  You mentioned in passing about the changes to the healthcare.  Everyone is on tenterhooks awaiting the outcome but do you or anyone reading this know when in April its expected?  And who is it expected from, the French government or our own DWP? Thanx
  13. Hey ErnieY i have absolutely no recall about where i got the info about providing proof of medical insurance or elegibility when purchasing  a house in France.  So far i've had info from Citizens advice bureau, this forum and articles on the web.  I've also read loads of magazines including living France so i can't remember the source as there have been so many.  I must've read it somewhere though, cos its been stressing me out since i read/heard about it!  If anyone knows anything to the contrary, please can you let us all know?  Thanks
  14. Hey katie, what makes you interested in the forum then are you going to or do you want to live in France or do you just use the forum to talk to your friend?  No doubt it's a great communication tool.  I've spoken to loads of people since joining and although i dont know any of them its kinda nice having anonymous friends and getting info about various bits n pieces along the way is an added bonus!
  15. Hey Katie, ah well, worth a try.  I'll just have to be happy being skint!  Yes i'm going to France in April.  Spending however long it takes to find a house.  Looking for something with renovation required, but i'm going through the slower than death process of waiting to hear from the DWP in N. Ireland to see if i qualify for the E121 form to get into the French healthcare system.  If not, then i'll probably come up against more hassle trying to get medical insurance as i have an existing medical problem.  ( my back).  I'm on DLA here and severe disablement but no matter how i try i can't get a definate from anywhere about whether i'd be able to register in France on their handicappes register or even if i will be considered disabled there or not.  Moving to France and even getting a house is small potatoes compared to finding out the legal stuff.  I've had replies and suggestions from a few people on this forum which is brilliant, but i guess they're in the same boat as me, they don't know for sure.  When you ask the DWP here for anything it's like saying you're going to rob a bank before you go...they immediately become suspisious of you because you want to have a life somewhere else.  I've just sold my house and hence going to France inApril.  Of course i wont be able to buy a house unless i can provide the notaire with evidence of either E121 or private medical insurance  ( or so i understand) and so back to the drawing board.  I have a friend however who is willing to rent me her house in Poitou Charentes.  I could stay there until i get everything resolved but will still need some kind of medical cover.  As if life isn't hard enough! What about you, are you a national, expat, visitor or working in France?  Hope i'm not "breaking any rules" by asking.  If i am just tell me straight.  I'm still feeling my way in this forum.  Thanks for taking the time to reply by the way.  Nice to talk to you.
  16. ok Katie, if we're being silly, then i'll be a millionaire!!  All donations gratefully received!
  17. Hey Tresco, just read your reply.  I'm truly sorry if i've offended you or any other forum members.  Maybe i just dont know what to expect of a forum.  You read so many of the do's and don'ts it kinda makes you think you've to use it strictly within the guidelines.  I didn't realise that people are free to converse in subjects outdide the "thread."  Hopefully i'll get a bit more into the way of things the more i use the forum.  Soryy again.  Friends?
  18. What does all the stuff you write mean?  I'm new to this forum and find it an invaluable source of information, help, suggestion and opinion.  I dont understand one word of your   posts. (or the posts of people who reply to them.)  Am i stupid or are you from somewhere other than planet Earth?  I've enjoyed this forum up til now.  You make me lose interest.  Are you animal, vegetable or alien??  Should i be looking at this forum in a different way?
  19. Are there any readers of this forum from N. Ireland who used a financial advisor before moving to France?  How do you go about sourcing one (who is totally au fait with the French tax system) ?  I've tried web searches but to no avail.  Any advice please?  Many thanks.
  20. HEY EBAYNUT THANKS FOR THE TRANSLATION OF THE LIST OF 30 ALD.  AFTER READING ALL THIS LIST I THINK I'M A SAFE BET FOR REGISTRATION:  MY HEAD IS NOW SO PICKLED THAT I BELIEVE I'VE GOT NO. 23 ON THE MENU.  SEVERE DISORDER OF THE PERSONALITY AND MENTAL RETARDATION!!!  IF I HAVEN'T GOT THESE COMPLETELY, I WILL HAVE BY THE TIME I GET THROUGH ALL THE RED TAPE.  BUT THANK YOU FOR SUPPLYING THE TRANSLATION ANYWAY.  GOOD OF YOU TO TAKE THE TIME. BODIE

    E121

I'm on  the search again.  Been trawling all the links everyone has kidly posted for me and my eyes are crossed from all the reading.  I'm still not clear about being entitled to the E 121.  This may be granted on the grounds of being in receipt of long term Incapacity Benefit, but my award is paid from income support IN LEIU of Incapacity Benefit (which includes severe disablement component)  so i'm not sure if this is the same thing. I suspect not as the wording of terms and conditions seems to be an exact science to the  benefit of the DWP when there's the chance of a loophole.  Can the E 121 be granted on the basis of being in receipt of DLA at all?  Hope someone out there can enlighten me. Thanks guys.
  22. Ta Benjamin.  I'm looking into it all now thru the links i've been given tonight.  Fingers crossed for the E121.  Will keep you all posted. Cheers, Bodie
  23. Thank you Tony.  Hope we can talk again soon.  I appreciate anyone taking the time to answer my queries and concerns.  Hopefully wont torture you all too much. (have a million things to ask, but will do a little at a time!!!) cheers, Bodie
  24. H ey ebaynut, just got your reply and yep you're right Tony was on the ball.  Both of you have given me a bit of food for thought and some good links which i intend to research tonight after dinner.  This forum thing is fab (i'm new, can you tell?)  and the range of queries and answers is unbelievable.  I'm dying to get to France but am trying to be thorough in finding out all i have to do before i go.  Main thing for now is the E121.  I've so far found the DWP in N. Ireland quite useless.  It's mostly, "not sure" or "we'll send you info thru the post."  It never comes!!!  For now thank you tons for your help and yes i'll keep you posted on my progress. Cheers, Bodie
  25. I've been reading all the questions and replies on this dark subject (DLA and E121) but most of the stuff i've read has been from last year when it seems that there were changes iminent in the ruling by the "decision makers.  So i'm no further on in knowing how i stand at this moment in time.  Can anyone reading this, who has any further knowledge of the current situation help me with some of these queries?"  I'm going to live in France.  I'm 46 and can support myself.  In N.Ireland where i live now i'm in receipt of high rate mobility and middle rate care DLA and have been since 1/02/03. Claim indefinate. I'm in receipt of Income support (with severe disablement component) in lieu of Inc Benefit since about 04. Claim indefinate.  Will i be entitled to an E121 and/or DLA?  If so, are both the mobility and care components claimable?  If not can i register for disablement in France?  What's the difference?  Will i have to make any claims for benefits before i leave the UK or (N.I.)[[:(] Thanks anyone who can enlighten me.
