  1. Thank you very much for that prompt reply. I would be interested to see if anyone reading this does indeed know the name of the contract we're talking about. If i can get that sorted, i'll be able to get on to it right away. Thanks again Mr Coeur de Lion
  2. HI, I'M RENTING MY HOUSE OUT SOON AND BOTH PARTIES ARE WILLING TO AGREE TO TERMS PRIVATELY (NOT USING AN AGENT). SO I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A RENTAL CONTRACT THAT I COULD USE, APPROPRIATE TO USE IN FRANCE OF COURSE. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A SITE WHERE I COULD DOWNLOAD A TEMPLATE/CONTRACT? I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOME TIME NOW BUT HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING SUITABLE YET. A LONG SHOT WOULD BE A TEMPLATE/CONTRACT IN ENGLISH, WHICH I GUESS WOULD BE GREAT BUT UNLIKELY. ANY SUGGESTIONS MUCH APPRECIATED. THANK YOU. HAVE A NICE DAY.
  3. Clair thanks for replying so quickly.  I have a bill here for initial connection so i'll have a look and see what i can ascertain from that. Cheers,  Bodie.
  4. Can anyone offer any help please?  I have been connected to EDF with a temporary supply whilst my house is being renovated.  I am obliged to contact EDF in March to have the supply "made permanent".  I have limited French language and so am having difficulty in finding out what tariff i am currently paying.  Do any readers know what i can expect to pay per unit for the temporary supply please?  And will my meter be read during the 6 months temporary supply period? Thanks in advance. Bodie (Charente)
  5. I live in the Charente near Aigre (16).  I want to buy a second hand/used steel shipping/storage container 20'x8' and have it delivered to my home.  Can anyone suggest any firms in or near the Charente who supply these containers please? Thanks, Bodie
  6. I'm living in the Charente near Aigre.  I'm looking for a second hand shipping container (steel) to buy and have delivered to my home. Size 20'x8'.  Do any readers know of anywhere near me that sells and delivers these containers please?   Many thanks Bodie
  7.   Hi L&R   i read your reply about trying AXA for insurance (barn, uninhabitable and ready for renov.) but try as i might i cant locate the department that deals with French home insurance.  Any chance you could give more info, phone number, particular website or anything else that may help. Many thanks, Bodie
  8. Thankyou to everyone who has responded to my post.  I have loads to look into now and am learning with every turn of the page.  You've all been a great help.  Cheers, Bodie.
  9. Thank you but i'm still in the dark.  What exactly is a mutuelle??  Thanks for your help.  Much appreciated.
  10. Hi J & M read your post on the Forum.  I've just purchased too and wondered apart from the one reply about AXA, did you receive any other possible names for insurance?  I have to have insurance from day of completion (about 8 weeks away now) and so am anxious to get "sorted." Thanks, Bodie
  11. Thanx Clair. Not as sharp as i'd like to be.  So if i manage to get an E121 from our DWP and move to France in April, i still wont get access into the French healthcare system?  And i'll then have to provide my own medical insurance for the first 5 years of residency in France?
  12. Hey ErnieY its killing me to know where i got this info.  I'll keep trawling everything i have to see if i can find the source.  I too hope its hearsay or rumour.  You mentioned in passing about the changes to the healthcare.  Everyone is on tenterhooks awaiting the outcome but do you or anyone reading this know when in April its expected?  And who is it expected from, the French government or our own DWP? Thanx
  13. Hey ErnieY i have absolutely no recall about where i got the info about providing proof of medical insurance or elegibility when purchasing  a house in France.  So far i've had info from Citizens advice bureau, this forum and articles on the web.  I've also read loads of magazines including living France so i can't remember the source as there have been so many.  I must've read it somewhere though, cos its been stressing me out since i read/heard about it!  If anyone knows anything to the contrary, please can you let us all know?  Thanks
  14. Hey katie, what makes you interested in the forum then are you going to or do you want to live in France or do you just use the forum to talk to your friend?  No doubt it's a great communication tool.  I've spoken to loads of people since joining and although i dont know any of them its kinda nice having anonymous friends and getting info about various bits n pieces along the way is an added bonus!
  15. Hey Katie, ah well, worth a try.  I'll just have to be happy being skint!  Yes i'm going to France in April.  Spending however long it takes to find a house.  Looking for something with renovation required, but i'm going through the slower than death process of waiting to hear from the DWP in N. Ireland to see if i qualify for the E121 form to get into the French healthcare system.  If not, then i'll probably come up against more hassle trying to get medical insurance as i have an existing medical problem.  ( my back).  I'm on DLA here and severe disablement but no matter how i try i can't get a definate from anywhere about whether i'd be able to register in France on their handicappes register or even if i will be considered disabled there or not.  Moving to France and even getting a house is small potatoes compared to finding out the legal stuff.  I've had replies and suggestions from a few people on this forum which is brilliant, but i guess they're in the same boat as me, they don't know for sure.  When you ask the DWP here for anything it's like saying you're going to rob a bank before you go...they immediately become suspisious of you because you want to have a life somewhere else.  I've just sold my house and hence going to France inApril.  Of course i wont be able to buy a house unless i can provide the notaire with evidence of either E121 or private medical insurance  ( or so i understand) and so back to the drawing board.  I have a friend however who is willing to rent me her house in Poitou Charentes.  I could stay there until i get everything resolved but will still need some kind of medical cover.  As if life isn't hard enough! What about you, are you a national, expat, visitor or working in France?  Hope i'm not "breaking any rules" by asking.  If i am just tell me straight.  I'm still feeling my way in this forum.  Thanks for taking the time to reply by the way.  Nice to talk to you.
