  2.  Chancer wrote, I am not usually in agreement with your comments Ebaynut or perhaps the delivery of them but respect your views, the above is bang on the money and that is coming from someone who says those things word for word. I have not voted however, I am not the slightest bit interestd in the outcome and especially all the arguments, I will cope with whatever way it swings but my Jack is alright as  have a foothold and enough income in either country. so without getting involved in the politics of it your observation is spot on as is your comment on the irony.   Well thank you for your post, funny enough, there are many things you have posted over the years, long before you were named Chancer by the much missed Ron Avery, which I am in complete agreement on, except for one, but we both know what that is. Whatever happened to your friend who run the Chateau, and proudly showed on this forum the work he had done to it, only to be torn apart by people who would not have had the balls to do it themselves? You did mention him on the thread regarding  Dick Strawbridge and the current TV programme?.
  3. R/H wrote, it only matters that he is racist when he decides he wants to become President ? I ask again, as you like using the racist word about Mr T, what has he said that makes you think he is racist????? As you may or may not know, being a mod, I had a PM, claiming my posts were racist, I asked the person who sent it, on several occations over the past month, to point me to what in that thread I had said which was racist, guess what, no reply from them!!!
  4. W/B wrote,   What a load of devious underhand nonsense these arguments for Brexit are; anything to twist and turn and try to hide the fact that they are at heart racist and nationalistic, a little Englanders mentality which seems to regard the Europeans as stupid and unable to think ot react for themselves for others and the Brits a somehow superior. Well, luvvies, the Brits aint and noone cares a *** what they do.   Well for someone who claims not to care a *** about Brexit, you sure do spent a lot of your time expressing your views. I am not interested in football, never really could see why people would spend so much time on it, but that's their choice, and as it does not harm me, I just ignore it completely, I don't spend hours going on about how I don't like the game, I just accept many people enjoy it, and find it important in their lives and get on with what is of interest to me. Life is too short to spend on subjects which you are not bothered about. I most certainly would not spend my time trying to change their minds, or slagging their game off to them.   I know there was a short thread on this subject, but that was just banter among a like minded group who spent  a few minutes of their time posting.   If I had posted the same post as you have just done, word for word, except changed Brits to Pakistani / Indian's ? African's, ( TYP) then it would have been shot down as racist, but say those things about the Brits, then its OK in your mind,  I guess.   With regard to the comment that the Brits somehow think they are superior, I would say this is more to do with your own personal interpretation then anything else. You cannot make someone think you are superior, that has to be something the other person has to feel. I cant say that I have ever thought that the Brits do think that, but I guess being a Brit, I would not.   I may, if you don't mind me pointing out however, that you are posting on a forum run by Brits, and using an internet invented by one.  [Www]
  5. R/H wrote,   Could it be Ebaynut ' that for all the years Trump was in the public eye people just thought of him as something of a comedy turn, multiple publicity ridden marriages, failed businesses, big mouth etc...it only matters that he is racist when he decides he wants to become President ?   No, if the pro democrat press could find even the smallest hint of racism then it would be major news, and they would milk it for all its worth. As for his failed companies, of which I believe there were four or five, compare this, if you will with the FIVE HUNDRED  plus successful businesses he currently runs.  The mark of a winner is they never quit, only losers quit. Show me a person who has never made a mistake and I will show you someone who has never made anything. Its how you recover from failure that matters. Why, even Lord Sugar and Mr Branson have had failures along the way.  Most people fall in a heap on the floor when they fail, getting up and starting again defines a person. What has Trump said that is so racist?? As for illegal immigrants, as far as I can see if we leave the EU this will get worse not better. Legal immigrants come here to work and better themselves, pay their taxes and insurance and help pay toward our public services. The problem of having full schools and not enough NHS funding is one of UK government, not the EU.     Then if you think that illegal immigration would get worse if we left you would be incorrect in your assumption.   Legal immigrants would still be able to come here, but in numbers and quality which we need, and suits the UK population, not in numbers which suit only the immigrants. As for blaming the government for failing to not have enough schools and hospitals, I guess you are right, they want us in the EU, so they are too blame for the huge numbers comings. But to suggest that if there is a large number arriving every year as there is, that we could possibly build and have enough of these services available when we don't know how many are coming is at best laughable.   Get us out of the EU and the £350 million a week we pay in could be used to make our country great again. And yes I know we get some back, but it has to be spent how the EU tells us, and the rest goes to helping the poorer countries in the EU, of which there are many now with its ever increasing size. Not forgetting the ministers who have to be kept in the best of everything that is available.
  6. Lindal wrote,   I don't know numbers but I liked the comment by Billy Bragg. "Not all people voting leave are racists, but all racists will vote leave".       Ar, the RACE card, so often played. This is of course where coloured people have the advantage over whites. They can never be called racist can they??  The thousands who have tracked across whole continents to arrive at Calais to then enter the UK illegally in the back of lorries and now on boats are not racist are they??    “ We go England”  they say “England is good”.  They care not that they will  take and take from the UK, and can give nothing in return, how can they?? they cant work legally, so must obtain any money or goods or food either by crime or hand outs. But they are not Racist for doing this to the British people are they?   But if someone white in the UK says, “ hey, we don't want you guys here, we have enough people already with no homes, we have full schools and not enough money for our NHS, then they are of course labelled RACIST by their opponents who wish for a ‘diverse’ UK.. As has been said before, the whites are onto a hiding to nothing here, if the ‘Racist’ word does not work, and the argument is still being lost, then  there is always the ultimate attack,  they are N_A_Z_I_S!!!!    Funny how Donald Trump, a man who has been in the public eye for over thirty years, was never, ever, even once even hinted at, as being racist, until of course he announced he was to stand against Clinton and the Democrats, then the racist claims started.
  7. Rabbie wrote,   Personally I feel that EU citizens who are long term residents of the U.K. should be allowed to vote but that's the rules.     That is indeed one school of thought.  Another is that people who choose to move both themselves and their wealth from their home country, to start what they perceive is a better future in another place, should not be allowed to vote, and influence the country in which they freely choose to leave. Their main interest in their home country, is of course that their payments keep arriving in their accounts. What happens in the UK (in this case) other than that, really does not concern them too much.   I have to smile when I read posters on this forum recount their trips back to the UK, and how busy it is, how congested the UK is now so much more compered to how it was when they left. How glad they are to return to the peace of their own area of France. Never mind those of us that have to live in this increasing full country.  Then these same people plan to vote to for the UK to remain in the EU and allow the ever increasing flow of people into the country.  Funny old world for sure, still as long as jacks alright I guess.   But as you say Rabbie, those are the rules.
  8. British motorcycles are an interest of mine, so I knew the make and model from the picture, and had a rough idea of the age of this one. The extra details I added later were found in a Norton history book I have,  but they can be found here also. As the picture is your friends father, that makes it extra special for him. I have similar ones of my parents and their bikes over the years, something to treasure for sure.   Model list Pre-War (1908 - 1939) Model Engine Years Notes Big Four (Model 1) 633cc single 1907-1954 A 475cc model was also made at some point Model 7 (BS) 490cc sv 1914-1922 Brooklands Special Model 8 (BRS) 490cc 1914-1922 Brooklands Road Special Model 9(TT) 490cc 1912-1923 Belt-drive Model 3½ 490cc sv 1911-1918 Side-valve, became the Model 16 in 1919 Model 16 490cc sv 1919-1920 Chain drive Norton 16H 490cc sv 1921-1954 Model 18 490cc ohv 1922-1954 Roadster Model 19 588cc ohv 1926-1939 Increased to 596cc in 1933 CS1 490cc ohc 1928-1939 CS stands for camshaft. 1928-30 were the Cricket Bat Motors. 1930s models were the Arthur Carroll designed motors. 9. For those interested, the model is a late 1920's, they were made from 1928 until 1939, when the war intervened, so it is most likely the picture was taken after 1928. CS in the model name, stood for camshaft, the one in the picture has the early engine fitted which was known as the 'cricket bat' engine, but the engine was replaced in the early 1930's with a new design, as it had many problems the previous season in racing. Bonham's sold one a couple of years ago for approx. £25K, so they are worth in the region of 20-30K. today, originality would be more important than being restored. But he has a great period photo there, and if the rider in the picture is a relation of person seeking the info, then he has a really nice family shot for sure.
  10. I have unfortunately no 50 euro note John, but its a 1920's Norton model CS1.  The number plate is UK.

Lindal wrote, l'd appreciate it if you didn't resort to swearing when you reply to my posts Ebaynut. It's not very nice and whilst I might be sorely tempted not something I have ever done to you.   As you know, WTF can have two meanings, if you choose to see it as swearing, that is beyond my control. I am sorry if you don't find it ‘very nice’. As someone who keeps legally registered firearms at his home, I find your comments about gun ownership and this line that you wrote particularly disturbing, ‘On a positive not as owning a gun doesn't seem to be related to a great deal of natural intelligence, most of the accidents could be considered a form of natural selection’.  How callus when talking about an accidental death. So, I guess we are even now then??

What about converts?   To avoid the possibility of upsetting  any of the different groups, lets just include them all shall we.   Would you apply the same ideas to the UK,   Absolutely.   or to the properties   All ready do.   you claim to own?   I was not expecting that, that must be about the best compliment you could pay me, so thanks.  I was expecting  responses something along the lines of ‘ its people like you who have denied young people the chance to buy their own home, or its people like you who have caused house prices to rise’, so thanks W/B, that's really nice. [:D]  Remember, it was you who asked.     Anyway back to you and the question you asked me,   you clearly don't mind asking it, but when I request you to tell what you think first, you just bury your head and ignore it. So here it is again   ‘Would you say that the wall being built between Israel and Occupied Palestine is to keep Palestinians out or Israelis in?’  and also your perspective on the situation there would be good, especially as you brought it up.

Lindal wrote, The point is just to illustrate that if you live in the USA you are very very unlikely to become a victim of a terrorist attack and much more likely to be injured by a gun, statistically speaking. Not in my mind enough evidence to ban people who purport to be Muslim from entering your country on the grounds that one of them might be a potential terrorist. WTF, how many people need to die then  before you think its enough?? Anyway, back to Trump..it seems he is not very happy with Cameron, so in event of a brexit should the Uk expect some favourable trade deals if Trump is president?   When Mr T takes over at the white house it wont be until next year, by that time if the UK leaves or stays in the EU, Dave will most likely be gone, or about to go, so he wont have to deal with Donald, he just keeps spouting bad things about Mr T because its PC to do so. Mr T  has said that if there was a Brexit, he sees no reason why deals cant be done in under a year. Remember Donald is a doer, not just a talker.

Great Bobo in a bucket, ebaynut, you go from bad to worse; fancy seeing money from gambling as a plus for anyone, let alone Trump. Having been largely responsible for the destruction of American based industry, the Republicans are now governed by gambling money which would much better have been spent on bringing factories back to the US. By the way, you always slate others achievements, just what do or did you do for a living?   You are incorrect, I do not always slate others achievements, just yours!!!  When you state I am ignorant and thick because my racial views are different than yours, than that gives me the right, to ask, as I did, ‘why if you are so clever do you have a house which looks like a shed to me, why is it so low value??’ seems to me that you may not be as clever as you think you are??   And when certain members mock others achievements, as some on this forum do to MR T, I merely question what they have done in their life which is so great.  I hate Tony Blair, his views and his actions, but he is not ignorant or thick, he is a very clever man.  As to what I do for a living, well we have discussed this before with your mod mate, before he had his breakdown,  property rental, and don't please think some twit who has cashed in his petty pension to purchase a BTL property, I started over 20 years ago, just at the end of the recession, when the auction rooms were full of houses that had been  reposessed  and there were few buyers for them back then. I then allowed others to live in them and buy them for me, so go on, pick fault with that!!!!    Come on, I have asked before, what are you views on Israel and Palestine  ????  as you seem keen to know mine, Do tell.

Lindal wrote, No, my point is that people over react to what they perceive as a threat. I don't know how many Muslims there are in the US, but statistically they are not as dangerous as a toddler who accidentally gets hold of a gun.   I know how many there are in the US, same as here in the UK, to many!!!!!!! Are you saying that all Muslims wishing to go to the USA are likely to be members or supporters of IS and so should be refused entry?   Good chance they may be !!!!!!!!!!   Are you asking if I personally would ban them, or do I believe the US should???   Either way the answer is YES !!!!!!!!!! I'm not a fan of gun ownership and I can see no reason for anyone to own one. I have many American friends who feel the same..but it isn't my country, I can think of no reason why I would ever want to go there again so what the Americans decide to do about it is up to them. On a positive not as owning a gun doesn't seem to be related to a great deal of natural intelligence, most of the accidents could be considered a form of natural selection.   And I also have many friends in the US, they all have guns, If I lived in the US, I would have a hand gun also. There are so many crazy people there, that protection of my family and myself would be the #1 aim. Its better to have a gun and not need it, then need one and not have it.   I expect, like most ‘civilised’ people like you  believe only nasty people have guns, are you one of those who would cry to for help if they need it, rather than being pro active themselves, and would rather leave the unsavoury tasks to others??

Rabbie wrote, I f you had read my post correctly you would have seen that I used the word If in regard to any possible move to France. You also stated incorrectly that I had the same signature for over a year. I adjust it every year on the anniversary of my retirement in February and this year was no exception so no marks for your powers of observation. As you know very little about me you have no idea whether I took late retirement or early retirement so any speculation about my age based on that is meaningless.   What you actually wrote was ’if/when I move to France’ which to me means that is what someone is planning to do, if not why mention it in that way?? Sure, you did not mention your age, and as I said then, I can only guess your age group, what's the big secret here anyway about your age??, Tell you what, I will show you mine, if you show me yours, I'm sixty, how old are you???? I do notice however that Trump has started to moderate his views now he has realised that he cannot win the election without the support of moderate Republicans so I feel that his more extreme supporters are in for a disappointment regardless of who wins.   This tells me that you are only watching UK news channels, which, like the whole world press is anti Trump, so don't expect the whole truth from that source. Like Idun often posts, if you want to know something in France ask at the Mairie, that's where the top man to ask is , and if you want to know about Mr T ask, O, no you cant, can you, so the next best thing is to watch one of his speeches, best seen on live stream, or if not just Google them, you tube has the whole back catalogue, he is not racist at all, just as he says, ‘America first’ If only the UK had someone with this policy, instead of the career politicians we seem to be stuck with. Assuming he builds his wall how is he going to make Mexico pay for it. The wall will no doubt hamper any invasion to enforce payment.   This is freely available on the www, watch one of his speeches, it is simply explained there,  I had to laugh when the former PM of Mexico said, there would be no F ---ing wall on TV, Trump said, ‘fine, its just got ten foot higher’ Now the PM says, Mexico wont pay for the wall, Great said Mr T, ‘at least they now acknowledge there will be a wall’.   Please keep posting in support of Trump. They make me smile and remind me that there are worse options than Mrs Clinton   No probs here Rabbie, no probs.   In fact, just to make you smile , did you see the owner of the Sands casino in Las Vegas is going to donate up to $100, 000,000  ( yes, one hundred million US dollars)   to help Mr T win, good to have friends with power.  Keep smiling.. Trump just goes to one extreme to appeal to the racists and extremists who back him. It sounds good to their ears. These are the same people as tried to spread racist nonsense about Obama. Of course, it will be much cheaper to use Mexican labour to build the wall..... oops.   Nah, needs to be built properly, so it wont be built by Mexicans, only paid for by them. Bit like polish builders over here in the UK, it would be very  much a  ‘no-no’  to use them,  like shopping in lidl or aldi, just not the ‘done thing’.

The second amendment is the right of every US citizen, there is no way they will ever give up their guns, or should they. Are you saying because of these accidents, the US should allow Muslims who may well be IS into the states??

I am afraid that trying to have an intellectual conversation with you, is like fighting an un-armed opponent.   You clearly don't know the difference between an illegal immigrant and a legal one.   The latter enters a country, where they contribute to the society there, they have paperwork which allows them to work, pay taxes and contribute to schools, hospitals etc, and they themselves obtain the benefits this brings.   The former, enters a country without making themselves know to the authority's of that country, or outstays a holiday or work permit. They need to eat, so as these people are always from the lower end of the food chain, they either have to steal it, or work on the black, they undercut the wages of the workers who do contribute, making it harder for the legal resident to find good paying work. They pay nothing in tax, as they cant, because the tax man does not know of their existence, but if an emergency happens, they will still be able to use the hospital F.O.C.   It is illegal to enter without telling the authorities, and because the present administration in the US chooses to turn a blind eye, and even talks of an amnesty for the illegals, it is no wonder US citizen's who play by the rules, want a wall built, one could speculate as to why Obama has allowed all the illegals to enter without trying to stop it, (they say it 13,000,000 who are illegal, but if the US government counts the number of immigrants in the same way as the UK government, chances are it way more)  could be his own ancestry, but as it is all going to change in the states soon, lets not dwell on the past mistakes of a do nothing president whose time is almost up.

How many have you created??    Now he has amassed enough capital he is giving back to the US, by leading them out of the mess they are in. Without his capital behind him he would have had to sit on a forum moaning about the world.   He has so much money, he does not need to be president, he is doing it as it needs to be done, the wall has to be built, illegal immigrants to the US need to be expelled, just common sense to me, and still there are those who claim he is racist in some way.   He plans to put a temporary ban on Muslims entering the US, great move, after all, who is it that is blowing us all up and killing in large numbers, not the Christians, not the Jewish community, not the Sheiks,  yes its the Muslims. The problem with your sandwich analogy is that too much bread and not enough filling does not douse the hunger pains and is largely a rip off.   ???????????????????????????????????????????

As to his generosity, perhaps this might give a more balanced picture of the giving of the least philanthropic of the billionaires; even a wrestling charity gave more tha he did to his own foundation! http://newsexaminer.net/politics/donald-trump-the-least-charitable-billionaire/ And, my sandwich is finely proportioned, thank you very much.   I am sure both you and your sandwich are full of the same substance !!!!  [:D]  [:D]     At least I made it.   Are you in any way implying Mr T did not?????

To make a mistake suggests not a slip, but that the man has failed to engage his brain when making public statements. A leader who does not engage his brain when on duty is frankly more than a little worrying.       Firstly Andy, I am not defending Mr T, nothing wrong here other than a slip of the tongue, bit like when you, make a typo on the forum..   As you may or may not know, 7/11 is a chain of supermarkets across the US, so is also a term widely used in the states, as for ‘deeply entrenched as 1066’, well one was nearly 1000 years ago, and the other was only the  last decade.   At least you state he is a leader, which is good, but leader of what??  He is the presumed republican party nominee, but not the leader until November, and as you are trying to make this sound (as has the worlds anti trump press) like some huge deal, let me remind you about ‘crooked Hillarys’ husband and campaign spokesman, Bill Clinton.   Did he not, when he was president, hold up the bible and swear on oath that  ‘ HE DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN’  this was a complete lie, as you know, and shows the type of people the Clintons are.   Now that was a mistake, I am unsure you could call this ‘engaging his brain, well one thing we all know for sure is,  what Bill did ‘engage’, yet he still has the front to be in the public eye.
