Hello when we were deciding to move to France our first choice was always Normandie. But now I have been looking further south,  Herault, is one area I like but know nothing about, I would appreciate any information about this area, and  why you chose to live where you do, weather ,house prices,  safety, ambiance etc. France is such a huge country, the choice is quite daunting. As is this font which I cannot seem to remove, my steam driven pc having a mind of it's own.  Polly !

A really interesting thread. I will use the olive oil method, yummy. My daughter, a qualified holistic therapist, uses candleing to remove earwax and massages the sinuses all around, of course she is always so busy I can never get an appointment......sort of shoemakers children in reverse.  

If you would like to put a woodburner in the centre of the room what about a round one , tubular shape, we used to warm the milk at school on this type, and I am sure they are still available , some most beautifully decorated. Just a thought. I would like my AGA in the middle of the kitchen, makes more sense. Polly

Please can I thank every one who has taken the time to reply to my query. I never thought I would have the need to know such information. All we wanted was to retire to Normandie and live peacefully and quietly, and strangely all the messages I have received make it seem a possibility, albeit with a few complications. I would appreciate any information about long term health care in France. Has anyone decided to return to UK as a result of the need for long term care.  We may need chemotherapy and I would like to know if I will have to pay for it in France or shall I have to stay in England until it is over, and probably cancell my plans to move and retire to France. My long term plans have all had to change and I am rather cross about it. I know most ex-pats get almost the same health care as if we were in the uk, am i correct in this ? any information will be most gratefully received. Polly
