1.     If the names "Bikers or motorcyclists" upsets one or two of you , how about another    " Piker" --- definition , someone who has ridden most types of bikes for years, mainly without the owners consent .      Is there anyone out there that slots into this category?  because my BMW  K75 ( wanting a 90k service and shimming of tappets, thats engineering for you ) is sitting on my drive in the dark with keys in ignition and half a tank of petrol . --- nobody ! come on , there must be one Piker out there,--- OK  OK  l'll shut the dog in the barn if that helps .    [:-))]
2. ---- ok  ok , I admit he does look real , but thats only due to the skills of the taxidermist who stuffed him .    [;-)]
3.    Seen on Ebay fr. 1998 BMW850R , with 248,000 km (155,000 miles )  on the clock.    Now ,  some may say its witness to the quality of the mark , others like me, may say that more realistically its a credit to the owner who has kept his beloved heap on the road for so long . I  would imagine by now he can strip and rebuild that motor before lunch time .    I now await the full onslaught of the pipe and slipper brigade .     [Www]
4.   Don't be fooled , its not a real one, you can see her arm up his back----------- it's a dummy    [:-))]
5. -------------- are you talking about the same rideout , or did you go somewhere different ?   [:-))]                       Very nice to meet you all today , look forward to more of the same  Regards
6. Ok, see you all at Aulnay Intermarche carpark at 10 am .   Gary whats this " get yourself an apple mac"   is it some sort of New York waterproof ? ---- so you are expecting rain on Saturday then !!      Regards Socket
7. ------------- where are Sid and Craig ? you ask , don't you remember ?   they were the two you lost on your last rideout !      Thanks for your kind offer of a free coffee ,  I take it that there is only the two of us !!!!     [:-))]
8. Hello Bugbear,                       Yes I'm going, travelling from St Jean d'Angely, If you want to meet up somewhere on route , then let me know ok                        Regards
9. Forget the Laverda for a moment , sorry Charles , but its good to see SD back on the scene . Wishing  Mrs SD and your goodself  a speedy and full recovery       Regards
10. Good news, went on e-bay as advised and eventually found , under the heading CCM, ARMSTRONG, ROTAX a workshop manual. However seller does not post to France, so a quick call to a friend in the UK , who just happens to be coming to France next week, ----result job done.  So many thanks for all the posts      [:)] Best Regards
11. Anyone know where I can get an English or French version of a workshop / instruction manual for the above engine . I'm told that Haynes do not cover this engine due to the low numbers sold in the UK, they do of course cover the range of 2-stroke engines produced in house by MZ. I believe the Rotax is produced in Austria, I have searched the web, one result found but a  German version--- not a lot of good to an old country boy !       Best Regards
12. Charles mentioned rear facing cameras---------- thats going to cause alot of upset for lady riders and pillion passengers through fear of " does my bum look big in this "  . Guys don't laugh , because we'll be ones in trouble for not telling them the truth to start with !    [:-))]
13.       WHY ?  What have they done ?    [8-)]
14. In an ideal world , yes Mac, but what would be the chance of that happening ?   Like most , I'd be well into the pub scene before midnight waiting to celebrate the new year , not flying about in the dark wearing a leather helmet, silk scarf and goggles    [+o(]
15.
Any date in mind for a ride-out Socket ?
How about Sunday the 16th or 23rd ----------by the way Gary, that quote from MA, " 1.5 accidents per year" . How does that half an accident work ? does it mean you have to wait untill the following year for the next 1.5 accidents to occur , and then contact the other odd half before you can put in an insurance claim together for one whole accident,  or what ! It beggars belief if these 1.5 accidents were fatilities . I think this is beyond us mate, better to ask Sunday Driver , what do you think !    [8-)]
16.
Oops looks like i`ve started a row , sorry everybody, [6]
No don't be sorry "hen" this is warming up nicely---------- Ok Bob your turn [:-))]
17.        Its gone very quiet of late , so whats up ?  Busy "moth balling" your bikes for winter or doing a decoke on the pipe, maybe fitting new toe sliders to your slippers.   Me, what have I been doing ? ------ writing to Father Xmas asking for a new Nolan helmet and a Carte Vitale . How about a rideout before Xmas ----- hello, HELLO---anyone out there ?  [Www]        Seasons Greetings
18. Hi Bugbear,                 You've gone quiet of late, just how many windows have you got left to finish? -------- really that many , tough . Anyway, the rideout for the 9th Sept., is it still on and are we calling round SD's for a cuppa as promised ?       [:-))]
19.
Socket, if your R series uses that much oil then you should get it looked at! Neither of ours use any, even after being parked on the sidestand for days. None of the past R series have used any either. Most of them come to France because they are good touring bikes that run for hundreds of thousand miles without any problems. Most people knock BMWs because they cannot  bring themselves to pay out decent money for a decent bike. When I bought the K1200GT in 2004, I paid £12,500 for it, a mate told me that I could have bought 2 Hondas for that, but then they would only have been half decent, wouldn't they?
------- you've missed the point Bob , I don't have a Beemer , I'm one of those with a chain [:D]
20. BMW R series----- prolonged periods with the bike on its sidestand ( 5 minutes upwards ) will allow the ingress of oil into the left hand combustion chamber , consumption of 500ml per 1000 miles is quite normal , thats about 5x more than a Scottoiler [:)]  Lately  I've noticed alot of people are bringing their BMW's to france . Is this something to do with the new " No Smoking " restrictions recently imposed in the UK ?----- well bad news, because France is going the same way in Jan 08, so where are you lot going next ?   [:-))]
21.   Everyone seems to have guests this weekend , which is nice for you all , but thats not my excuse . No , I've already booked Sunday , doing the local village brocante which is always a good day out. I've got fingers crossed that I might actually sell something this year . [B]  Regards  Socket
22. Wen wrote " Yesterday I saw an elderly man in the village riding along on what looked to be one of those motor scooters , but he was also pedalling " ----------may I ask ,  did he have a large double glazed window tied to his handlebars ?-------- He did , well in that case you should have said  " hello " 'cos that would have been Bugbear !!           [:-))]
23. Ok Bugbear I think we've been patient long enough , just how long does it take to fit a window ? That bloke Angelo managed to paint a Chapel ceiling in less time , and he done it laying on his back !  Those southern lot in the Dordorgne are gaining ground rapidly, albeit they lost someone before they even started , but it won't be long before they are loosing people on route . We've got to up our game NOW . Moral is low, SD is on his 3rd pair of slippers, Beull Fool has taken up poetry, VFR Sid has dropped of the planet , Bauldeagle now has shoulder length hair , Keith the Kwak is worried about the 2 year guarantee on his new battery and me, in desperation have done the Cannock run yet again .        [:-))]
24. ---------- have you finished those dam windows yet ?   I'm sitting here waiting for the next rideout , and what are you doing ? DIY , honestly some people have no thought for others        [Www]
25.
I'm fairly sure they are referred to as 'cable bougie' - plug cable
---------- you are spot on , asked my neighbour today, and the answer " cable de bougie "  Well done , by the way , you would'nt like to translate a Yamaha Fazer manual for me , would yer ?    [Www]
