  1. I've been helping a friend get online with Teleconnect today. They have a new laptop which has Windows Vista on it. We got all the lights on correctly on the modem and a connection was registered (took a few filters but we got there). There's then meant to be a screen that loads in Internet Explorer presumably where you enter your login details to set up the router. Unfortunately, this screen would not load - just a "can't connect to anything" message in IE. The instructions just said to try to access a website and it'll pop up. Well, we did and it didn't. Do you have to do anything differently with Windows Vista? Is there an address that we can type in the address bar to get to that message? I'd really appreciate any help with this. The helpline was on hold and after 7 minutes told us to make an appointment, sounded an engaged tone then hung up. 4 times. Thanks very much in advance for any help. All the best
  2. "Fraid not - the police sometimes carry out spot checks (I've seen them going round the car park at a motorway services specifically examining the headlights of all the GB cars)" This sounds ominous.  If they find you're without deflectors, what do they do?  They don't seem to sell defelctors in France - I've looked and never found them even near the major ports. Not only that though, they don't even seem to sell them for converting European lights to be legal on UK roads either.  In fact, here's a good game - if you're in the UK, see if you can spot a European car with headlight deflectors on.  Is the law different here?  It may be about to change as there's now starting to be a focus on EU lorries on the roads and it's not like the UK to miss an opportunity to make a quick buck by fining motorists! Cheers
  3. Just answered my own question here. I didn't read the print underneath the baggage option.  It contains a link to remove the priority boarding and travel with no bags and resets the cost to zero. I still think this is a devious Ryanair ploy though. Cheers M
  4. I'm trying to book a flight to Carcassonne and back in January.  1p each way - brilliant.  Until you get to the "how many bags are you checking in?" question.  Choose the "0 Bags" option and it automatically adds £4.  (Choose any other number of bags, multiply it by 7 and that's how much it costs if you do put anything in the hold.) Have I missed something here? Am I paying for the so-called "Priority boarding" - there's no option for no bags and standard boarding.  Has anyone else found this? I know it's still very cheap to travel at this cost but I'm not going to pay for NOT doing something.  I'd rather pay an extra £30pp and go British Airways.  Please let me know if I've missed the point Cheers M
  5. We have a couple of small windows on the top floor of our house (92cm x 107cm high and 60cm x 90 cm high). They are both at floor level so apparently we need to put some kind of bar across them to stop anyone falling out. Can anyone tell me if this is true and, if so, what kind of bar do we need? Will one bar horizontally across the window do the job? Cheers Joe
  6. Thanks for the links Hoddy - I've been glued to www.viamichelin.com in anticipation of our holiday but have added the french site you gave to my list as well.  We'll probably be too covered in paint and dust to really notice the weather but I like to be prepared!
  7. Would someone who is in on the 34/11 border be able to tell me what the weather is like at the moment?  We'll be making a very long awaited visit to our house next week and need to know what to pack! Thanks in advance
