As a total imcompetent - I come over to my house in Mortain at weekends sometimes and go bck on Sunday evenings. Saturday is usually a day of sorting the latest set of issues out and then collapsing into bed. Sunday comes and we have not ventured out to find a case or two of reasonable wine at a resonable price, and we then dash to Le Havre and the wine shop there is always closed. Any ideas how we can get booze at Le Havre (or nearby) on a Sunday ? On a different note - anyone know a good place for seafood at 3pm on a Sunday there as well ? Thanks

Having just bought a house near Mortain in January and commute there from Leicester - the transportation has not put me off - LD Lines is who I use and will use cheaper options for longer stays ie through Dover. Brittany Ferries are expensive and overnight you have to book a cabin - space in the day is also limited. Unfortunately LD Lines is becoming more popular. However I love France and so do many more people of all nations.................just look in July on a Saturday at the cars with Dutch and Belgian plates heading into Normandy & Brittany.. The 11% increase in house prices per annum might fall slightly but so what in a nice area as long as there are cheap options for people to get their - £27 each way on sea france through dover and a tank of petrol make sit cheap for a family. -
yes £5 each way from UK to france

Thanks Will - not necessarily trying to live on the cheap. Trying to understand and compare 'la vie francaise' with the UK. I think walking down the local street and buying where there is little difference suites me fine. In the UK the differentials are large between Mr Smith and Curry's these days. I will always pay a little more for the extra service - delivery, fitting etc and AFTER SALES SERVICE. I am also proud to buy second hand goods when needs must. Many people in the UK won't - does this happen more in France ? Many thanks for your feedback. Kind Regards Rob

As I am from Lesta, MJ is doing lots of after dinner speaking and celebrity events. He is itching to get back into rugby. However, he awaits the decision of Pat Howard whether to remain here or go back to OZ. He is already touted as Tigers next Manager. I suspect John Wells ex Tigers manager and now england forward coach many have something to say about it. About Corry - please dont be too hard on him. Robbo has treated him rotten too - subsituting him, playing him out of position, not taking him on tour. No wonder his leadership is dodgy. I think he needs a rest from the captaincy now though. He is a massive player for England and Tigers who plays his heart out. Does anyone remember my school mate Deano ? He is the man !!!!!

Buying a house near Mortain. Does anyone know the best places to get eletrical goods CHEAP. Can't seem to find these shops on the web like we have in the UK i.e. Curry's and Comet. Ideally would like to pre-order from the UK and arrange a delivery date that I can be there. Any help would be appreciated.
