1. Well I feel I can comment on this and give you a somewhat different view.  We have had a Livebox for about 2 years, we set it up with no problems and the first 12 months were great.  We then had all manor of problems with the WiFi part just not working and the livebox making a crunching electrical sound and then crashing.  We then experienced a daily drop out of connection (but this turned out to be something to do with work they were doing locally for about 6 months).  Anyway Wanadoo / FT / Orange refused to replace the Livebox unless they took me through an extensive diagnostic even though it had functioned perfectly for 12 months.  In the end I purchased a wireless router and plugged it into my Livebox and that solved my problems, but still I pay 3 euros a month for it.  I think the rest of it works fine but I am not sure.  Not sure if this helps.
2. I would have loved to change but from reading on here I understand if you switch service providers from Wanadoo it is a major headache plus you can be without a connection for a number of weeks.
3. We have wanadoo and we now have the chance to add digital tv and unlimited VoIP calls within France at no extra charge.  Can anybody tell me how we get the signal from the Livebox to the TV (is there a seperate decoder or something).  I know there is a plug for both TV and telephone on my Livebox but still unsure how it all works.  Also having looked at the wanadoo website I am still confused what channels are included due to the notes, the details are in the link and if somebody could shed some light that would be great.
4.
Is this the correct form please? http://www.cmu.fr/userdocs/2124-1.pdf I have to sort this out too but I was waiting on the letter from the UK stating I was no longer entitled.
Can anybody confirm this is the right form as I am currently sorting out my tax for 2005 as I did not have an income so did not submit a return (I now this is wrong as have already asked advice).  If so I can complete this and take along lots of bank statements and get it sorted out this week.
5. Our E106 ran out on the 6th Jan so I have contacted Newcastle and now received the letter stating I no longer have cover.  From what I understand I take this to the local CPAM office who will issue me with a form to declare my worldwide income.  From that they will calculate my social charge (8%?) which I will then pay and will be issued a new attestation which means I will have health cover again.  Firstly do I have this correct?  Secondly in the interim I am without state cover, if I use a doctor, dentist etc. will I be able to claim the costs back once I have my new attestation - meaning will it be back dated to Jan 6th.  Any advise greatly appreciated.
6.     I have seen offers from Tele2 and to be honest they seem great but what is the catch.  I currently have France Telecom for telephone - 15 euors a month for line rental and orange for internet upto 8 megs for 32.90 a month.  According to a leaflet from Tele2 and their website, I can have a phone with unlimited calls to France and 31 other countries including the UK and USA (USA mobiles seem to be free too), plus upto 20 meg internet connection, plus digital TV for 30 euros a month.  Without any call charges this is 17.90 euro saving a month and I get a faster internet connection and digital TV.  Does anybody use Tele2, are they reliable and are there hidden costs
7. Thanks Sunday Driver, do I need to wait until next year?  The amount in interest will be low since our survival money has been in a current account but I will offer to pay any overdues.  I am still on the lookout to see if we receive a taxe d'habitation bill and will pay it as soon as we receive it.  We only discovered n the last month we could use an e106 to get into the system and have just received our carte vitale's which will be valid until Jan.  Now I am in the system I should receive official letters which will help us get on the right track going forward.  Forunately we have been able to claim back our medical bills since we arrived although we have been told on 2 occasions (once by Newcastle when issuing the E106 and once by a long time resident who we spoke with when arranging our insurance mutuelle) that we could not do this, but we have received the % contribution from the social security system.  Thanks again.
8. I have rented a house in France since Feb 2005.  I did not have any income (I lived of savings from a current account), until March 2006.  So far I have not registered for tax but since I have an income this year it needs to be done ASAP.  In addition we have not received any Taxe d'habitation demand but I am unsure if it is included in our rent, but am concerned we will have an outstanding bill (plus interest and fine possibly) for last year (no letter was ever received and my landlord has not mentioned any charges I need to pay).  Can somebody please explain the steps I need to take.  Additionally my income is earned outside the EU, so how do I register for social charges.  Unfortunately my French is still poor so an explanation for the tax office would probably not work UPDATE I have been reading more on the forums and would I be right in thinking since we moved in in Feb 2005 we would not have received a Taxe d'habitation bill last year since we did not occupy the house on Jan 1st and therefore have no outstanding bill as that bill would have been the landlords responsibility (having read that taxe d'habitation is paid in arrears).  Therefore anytime soon we should receive a taxe d'habitation bill for this year which will need to be paid by us.
