1. The mother of young mum posted on this forum for advice at what is undoubtedly a very emotional and stressful time for all concerned.  What she didn't need was the moral judgements that many posters seem keen to post.  Unless you have something constructive and helpful to say would it really be too much trouble just to ignore her post and not comment at all.  If the issue is so important to you open up a general thread of your own where you can discuss the subject to your hearts content without upsetting a family who could well do without trying to justify themselves to people on this forum who obviously have nothing better to do.  Wanting your loved ones close to you at a time like this is only natural and young mum is lucky to have such caring parents who are more than willing to be there for her. Good luck and I hope that things work out for you all.
2.
. Am I getting old, is it in the British charts?
Hi Georgina - in answer to your question above - the swear words are deleted in the UK.  Everyone is aware of the bleeped word though.  I was a bit shocked when I first heard a song on the radio in France that included the rude words. especially as my 13, 5, and 6 year olds were in the car.  They however found the look on my face  funny!
3. After family - memory box holding all the things that the children have made me over the years.
4. Hi Adrian I flew from Dinard on Sunday and they were very strict.  Had my handbag searched, lipstick opened etc, eyedrops were looked at but as they were under 100ml they let them through, several people in front of me had to take their shoes off to go through x-ray machine which seemed to be on its most sensitive setting.  To top it off when I had gone through passport control and sitting in airside departures my name was called out amongst a few others and we all had to go and open our hold luggage for this to be searched.  Personally, I'd contact the airline you're flying with and get their official advice.  Regards Pippi
5. I live in Manchester (the rainy city) and have a house in Normandy.  We visited in January this year and spent a few hours on the beach at Carolle plage with a picnic basket as it was lovely and sunny!  Admitedly we needed our fleeces on but it was a gorgeous day!  Visted the same beach in August and it rained!
