  1. Sarah & Chris Head, they live 10 minutes away from us. Sarah is a lovely human being, attractive and intelligent, without her our start to life here could have been very different. And then there's Chris! In short a total nutter! Actually we don't know what he really is apart from a very, very honest guy who is totally in touch with himself and what matters to him. My husband is a trained and experienced chainsaw operator and has always wanted to carve with chainsaws and typically Chris said no problem lets carve, Martin told me that a half an hour later he was scared to death and didn't know how Chris hadn't killed himself and he hasn't picked up a chainsaw since. Chris is a gifted human being and yes girls he's everything you thought he might be (hubby doesn't look in on the forum but I know Chris does!). Lyn
  2. Sorry Chris, we couldn't resist that one. He was also filmed and interviewed while doing it, which he seems to have neglected to mention. Get a grip Chris you could be carving your way around France if you wanted to!!! Lyn Elliott
  3. The pictures don't do justice to the work Chris put into the Totem! In the 'flesh' it is breathtaking.  Nor does anyone know of the problems he had at the start, nor the financial and emotional sacrfice that he has made to give a gift to the children and teachers of the school and the commune in general. I know he doesn't blow his own trumpet enough so I'm doing it for him! Please don't be fooled by Chris's air of normality, the bloke is off his rocker when he's with chainsaws, but I'd love just five minutes inside his brain! He's sort of a cross between new and neanderthal man. MOH & I never met anyone who attacked life in the same way. The Totem is in the school of Le Grand Bourg in the Creuse if anyone's around, I know he'd be more than happy to talk. A BIG UP to you friend! Lyn Elliott
  4. Hi, I was looking for where alse eamons message had been posted and found it! I've already replied to it on the renovation page and Chris knows about it now. He'd be chuckling about becoming an object of desire though! He's actually quite a sane guy, apart from when he starts a chainsaw! A story on him would be a great idea, most certainly a very original one! The way he and his family have integrated has been fantastic and could be a lesson to those of us who were nervous about it. Chris is as creative in business as he is in his work and we have learned masses thanks to his patience and generosity. Like I said on the other reply, we've never come across someone who can carve a totem pole one day and make lovely furniture the next. Lyn & Martin
  5. This is my first post, but I couldn't not having read the above! The person you're looking for eamon can only be Chris. We met him last summer at a small local event in the Creuse, we heard chainsaws starting up and wandered over to the noise to watch him 'speed' carve a carving. In ten minutes flat the whole of the village was watching him! The way he was using the chainsaws could only have meant that he had been allowed out of the lunatic asylum for the day, he scared me to death! My husband who is a trained chainsaw user was practically covering his eyes! Chris donated the carving to the commune and they auctioned it off for commune funds. He's also about to carve a totem pole for the local school as a donation in Le Grand Bourg, a project worth well into four figures. He made us a four poster bed and wardrobe that are just to die for, there can't be many folk who can chainsaw carve one day and make fine furniture the next! This is not an advert for him (as you can imagine he's in great demand) just a statement from two people who are now his friends. His telephone number is 05 55 62 02 54 ( I just spoke to him and he's OK with putting his number on here). Lyn & Martin,( Masvinier, Creuse)
