We have been asked a question regarding a devis to which I dont know the answer can anyone help? The people have got a devis for the instalation of a new septic tank. They have paid a deposit BUT not signed the devis. On reading the quote there is no actual price quoted for the septic tank (the people involved do read french) . Can they now pull out and get there money back? What if any are the implications? Phil 49

Our gites are a TV free zone.....whats the point of a holiday if you are obsessed with TV schedules. Holidays are all about doing something different, and switching it off forces children to play and interact with others. At our 6 gites on one site we find that our guests really like to get together in the evening. So this year we are laying on evening entertainment, eg a band one night.....its upt our numbers, and made us completely different to our "competitors" because we offer more than just a property. We offer an experience.... and believe me our online guest book comments get better each year. We've not had a quiet season, when all around us are complaining.

Alot of cows are kept in during the summer here as there is not enough grass in the field to chew on. Grass dosnt grow so well south of Loire in the summer.....flies are a real pain wherever you are in rural areas... do what the french do...in hot weather shut your windows and keep the heat and the flies out.

I dont take offence and we have been here 4 years and we agree with you. Not many of us "youngsters" (mid 30s) about. Most around us are retired and whilst nice people, like you say it is difficult to socialise and have common ground. Saying that there are a few younger families around here and they are as miserable as sin, totally unsociable and highly suspicious of any attempts by us to be friendly! Everyone thinks that everyone else is only out to make money out of you...(infact some "friends"have actually tried to rip us off).what ever happened to being plain friendly!
