Sometimes, you just can't beat the old corny ones, can you?[:D]
sweet 17, They are the wurst.
-
sweet 17, A sign in a NY deli, "Our tongue sandwiches speak for themselves".
-
Georgina, As long as it is your own tongue you are biting...
-
Georgina, There is a joke in St Albans Cathedral that there is a trap door that opens if the person preaching goes on for more than ten minutes.
-
Geortgina, Although myself and my pit bull tend to 'cut the cheese' in restaurants.
-
Georgina, I bit my fingernails until my junior high school teacher told me, when I was 13, that my nails looked horrible. I immediately stopped and never bit them again. So you are safe sitting near me in a restaurant.

gus, we might try le Normandy next summer because, as I said earlier, the Broche D'Argent has gone downhill.
-
Well, that seems to be that then. I guess everybody got home.
-
Steve, Oh joy, I can now have some salad nicoise.
-
RT, I guess St Albans is too far 'north'. Our local news is the London one.
-
RT, Funny how this news doesn't seem to be making the news on British TV.

Russet, We now usually stop part way down to Dordogne rather than drive the whole way in one go. We used to use a company called French Country Camping that had its office near to us in St Albans and we could drive to the office to book. It was taken over by Eurocamp so we have to book by phone or computer now.
-
idun, How do you do your camping? We use Eurocamp and stay in their large tents. Hardly camping at all except for having to walk to toilets and to wash dishes.
-
Steve, We holiday in France nearly every year from near Calais to Annecy to Dordogne to Loire to Brittany to Normandy (did I forget any place...), so must expect some bad weather. We went to a campsite nearish to Calais, a bit south of St Valery, for a week in early September at a reduced rate and it only rained once, during the night. It has been a bad summer in GB as well.
-
Russethouse, It looks pretty straighforward once you get around Rouen and on the E402 according to my Michelin France map 2011, although getting around Caen can be tricky. I assume no ring road around Rouen has been improved since 2011. We have driven bits of that trip in various years, the most recent being Calais to a campsite near St Valery.
-
Russethouse, Don't forget wear on tyres.
-
Gardian,
Payage fees?
-
Val 2,
If you are replying to dwmcn, you will notice that we take our vacations in late June-early July when Eurocamp prices are lower, and we stay in a Eurocamp tent, not a mobile home. Yes, we can afford a holiday, but are retired and not rich. I wouldn't go to Spain if you paid me. I'd rather be in rain in France.
-
Gus,
They should refund your petrol costs as well. Nothing like driving from Caen (or wherever) to Calais. The restaurant we usually use near the Ouisterham port is called Broche D'Argent. It has gone downhill the last two visits and we won't be using it again.

If you mean dwmcn, I meant georgina, but might have misunderstood her. I didn't know they did Dinan Calais, but then never needed it. We have a smallish Hyundai Getz which is OK for shopping, but it is a bit larger than our old Citroen AX was.
-
It rained most of the two weeks we were in Brittany this year in June-July (2012) on a campsite near Nevez. But then, it probably rained all that time in England as well. Next year, Dordogne.
-
I didn't see you mention why it is taking you so long to get to Calais. We live just north of the M25 (St Albans) and always take the tunnel to Calais for shopping trips and Wine Society events near Montreuil. I can't remember the last time we crossed by ferry. At the best of times, in my opinion, most of Calais isn't much to look at.
-
We recently booked next years holiday with Eurocamp using the Portsmouth-Caen crossing with Brittany. I assume everything will be settled by next June.
-
Ah, another PMUer. We usually search them out when we are in France, but fewer seem to be serving food.
Am I getting old and intolerant?
