  1. here goes searcher30 again with another question........is this for you?
  2. The answering service can be modified by multiples of 5 to 40 seconds (1 to 10 phone rings) you just need to follow these easy instructions found on the FT website:   Décrochez votre combiné Composez le Puis exemple avec 30 pour 30 secondes soit environ 6 sonneries "Votre demande est acceptée et enregistrée"   That means its accepted. Hope that helps!
  3. Hi, my neighbours got a cleaning lady, so this is what she told me: The first time you order a cheque book at your bank, you'll need to fill out a special form (at the bank) to declare you as an employer ,includes directdebit authorisation, so the employer and employee charges 'cotisations' can be debited from your account. So yes you're pretty much right, you'll have to count apprx an extra 50% for the charges For french income tax payers, they can declare the pay + cotisations, to make a tax reduction; however in your case being non-resident I think it's tough luck!
  4. Hi Dee, No it's not Britline that I've read good and bad stories about on the forum and requiring loads of paperwork to open too; it's the Paris version called Paris Direct intl, and you have to go to the branch to open in person. I persume they're basically the same sort of service though; thanks for the info!
  5. Hi Donna, Have you asked your Credit Agricole then?? They're current musical TV ad's advertise a new rental caution, and without freezing assets. I've just tried to look if there's any info in english on their paris website that i was looking at earlier today whilst bank hunting, but haven't found any info (perhaps you could send them an email... they've a contact email online), but there's also link to the main website, and it mentions it on the welcome page; it's called "Good Loc" - seems a bit of a franglais word they've come up with there!!. So it's worth a chat with your bank manager by the looks of things. Best of luck, and let us know how u get on!
  6. Hi, How about contacting the FRANCO BRITISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE in France ? Website: www.francobritishchamber.com I believe amongst other things, that they are there to help UK companies settle in France. Could be worth a try!
  7. Hi everyone, I was surfing around on the net looking at what the different French banks are offering in English, and apart from the usual Barclays, I was quite interested in the Credit  Agricole paris website. They talk about an english distance banking branch open 6 days a week, with bilingual staff. Has anyone tested them yet? Would welcome any feedback before going into another difficult banking venture!
  8. The problem is with Ryanair's payment system. This used to be the same with easyjet, but now since a couple of months, they accept 'carte bleue' payments so are counted as debit cards and no longer credit cards. It's definately not the banks fault!
