Can anybody suggest any portal sites that offer free advertising for gites?  I have found a couple, but I am sure there are more.   Cheers    

Having a website is a good start!  

In my experience offering FREE TRIAL is the best way to get clients. I signed up for all the free trials available, and 90% of my booking came through one company, so they are the one that I am paying for.  I certainly won't pay to advertise with a company without knowing that I am going to get any bookings.   http://gitesinfrance.blogspot.com/
