  1. We are British residents with a maison secondaire in France. We keep a French registered vehicle in France. My husband got caught speeding - 127 kph in a 110 kph zone. It says that he will lose points but he has English driving licence and needs it back home. Can anyone tell me what his situation is. Many thanks. Pamela
  2. Thanks for the replies. Will get this doc signed soon as I get back. Pamela
  3. Hi. I am going to ask some very basic questions here.  We don't live permanently in France but leave a French car at our holiday house. Our car is insuranced in France. Now this is where the basic questions come. The insurance doc which I keep in my car is the one where you tear off a little green square and put it in the window. My husband and I haven't signed this. Am in London at the moment but don't remember a place for signature. Is this the document we are supposed to sign and keep in the car at all times? Sorry for being an idiot but grateful for your help. Thanks Pamela
  4. I had my fosse inspected by the commune authorities' early January. The inspector was satisfied with everything and said we had no problems.  It's now July and I haven't received my Certificate de Conformite. Should I have by now? I'm in Dept 13. Thanks, Pamela - Aix
  5. Hi, thanks for your reply - It starts 08 73 and then there are 6 more digits - same number of digits as any other normal French number. Pamela
  6. Does anybody know what sort of a telephone number begins with 08?   Thanks Pamela
  7. Hi Andrew thanks very much for all these details. I have to try to take it all in now!  Am in London at the moment but will try to find the testing tablets when I return to France in July. If  I can't find them, I'll be in touch. Thanks again for yoru help. Pamela
  8. Hi Andrew Thanks for your reply. I didn't think there was anything unusual about using brome. However, our situation is that we bought our house with pool a year and half ago. It is inside an enclosed glass veranda and gets very hot in the summer. The person who had been looking after it told us the smell from the chlorine in summer was overwhelming. Also my husband does serious swimming and finds that chlorine pools can make his skin itchy. Anyway we looked at the alternatives and thought we would give brome a try. After a very bad start and many water samples to our local pool shop, we seemed to get a nice clear pool. However, we were told by the pool shop that we should use a brome regenerator every two weeks in summer and once a month in winter to regenerate spent brome. Perhaps this isn't a shock treatment. I am a novice trying to get to grips with this. I was interested to know the best testing for a brome pool. Thanks Pamela
  9. Hi, Having read the post on Chlorine testing kits, I was wondering what I should be using to test my brome pool with?  Also, how often should I shock my pool? Thanks Pamela
  10. Thanks for your reply. At least I have an idea now. We are based just outside Aix. Pamela

  12. I have a holiday home in Aix en Provence, Bouches du Rhone (Dept 13). Is there anyone out there who can recommend a plumber in the area? Any other recommended services in the area would be gratefully appreciated!   Pamela
