Darren, I don't think you have to do anything so drastic as move to France to escape.  Just get out of Ashton - quick!  It was my home town and every time I go back it scares the hell out of me.  Honestly, there are parts of the UK that are lovely :o)  But seriously, I agree with the others.  It's a big move for the kids, so go easy on them and be prepared to offer lots and lots of support. We're just in the process of moving over for two years (hopefully more!)  and will be living in Bourges. We're in our late 30's.   I have just given up my teaching job to be a stay at home mum to my toddler, and hope to be enjoying France to the full while my partner slogs at his job [:D].  He's over there now, while I'm sorting out the move from this end, but hoping to be over permanently in 3 weeks time.  I certainly would love to meet up, if only to giggle at my temporary escape from school.[:P] Sara
