1.
By the way it is well worth trying French TV, if only as a way of listening to French at speed and to see the weather forecasts.
I agree. If we have to pay the 'licence' then we might as well be using the TV. Can anyone suggest the next best step? I don't know anything about the French TV set up or which are the best options. As it is a holiday home and we won't be spending much time watching TV, we don't want to spend much money. I have had a quick look at past posts but as there are nearly 90 pages, I'm finding it a bit confusing. Could anyone give me a simple run-down on the options? Thanks Lesley
2. I have looked at past posts but cannot see the answer to my question. I have a TV/DVD player in our holiday home in France which we bought only for watching DVDs. We have no ariel, connection or any way of receiving french television. Do we still have to pay the redevance audiovisuelle? Unfortunately we bought the TV in France so I guess they have a record of the fact that we have a TV (I think they are automatically informed of a purchase, but I am not sure). Would this make a difference? Thanks Lesley
3. Hi Have seen similar posts but I think people were probably a bit too far away from us. We have a property between Bourges and Chateauroux near Issoudun and would like someone to keep the garden tidy while we are in the UK. Plot is 1500 squ meters but half of this is a wooded area which wouldn't need regular maintenance. The rest is lawn and keeping the 'barley' weeds down that have blown in from the local fields. Also have a horsechestnut tree that needs pruning. Eventually we'll have flowers, bushes and fruit trees (well - that's the plan anyway) thanks Lesley and Paul
4. Hi Alistair Have just noticed the question. We have had our house 18 months. Up until now the longest we have been able to stay there for any one period is two weeks so we are looking forward to being there for a month. Up to now we've only met one English family at a market! Lesley and Paul
5. Hi Thanks everyone. Have only just managed to get back online but we now know that we will be in France for virtually the whole of August apart from the last few days. We'll contact individually with details. Hope to meet up with some of you Lesley and Paul
6. Hi We have a holiday home out in the countryside which we love. The locals speak no English and we are not complaining about this but as our French is only 'pigeon french' we occasionally would enjoy a 'good 'ol' chat in English just to keep the vocal chords going. We are in our 50's, both teachers and still working. Our house is between Bourges and Issoudun. Is there anyone living in that area who might like to meet up for a drink and a chat sometime? Lesley and Paul[:)]
