  1. possibly could be the water pressure, i know that is far greater then the uk. had'nt thought about a water filter. will give it a try if it doesnt clear.
  2. i hope someone can put my other half's mind at rest. after staying at our house just north of parthenay in 79 for the first time i noticed that the cold water seemed to come from the tap quite cloudy but seemed to settle after a few minutes, and with some squash it seemed to have some froth around the top. it seemed to taste ok. is this normal ? is it safe to drink? thanks for any advice anyone may have
  3. thanks all, paperwork for a gas tank, mmmm. hadn`t thought of that one, there must be a sticker or some identification as to who has been supplying it with gas, will look for it
  4. does anyone have any knowledge on gas tanks.part of my renovation project will be to move the gas tank that has been sited in the middle of the front garden. i have no idea of the capacity but it is about 3 metres long and stands nearly 1 metyre high, would i be able to have it partly filled so that i have some gas for now ? or do you have to have them filled completely ? i would guess by the size of the tank it would hold about 1 years supply why they couldnt have put it to one side of the garden is a bit of a mystery !
  5. just wondering after reading some of the posts on here, why nobody mentions seafrance. recently returned from france with p&o arriving at calais more than 2 hours early only to be charged a supplement. i have always travelled with p&o and have not been charged this before, so after 20 years of crossing the channel decided to look elsewhere. 3 weeks ago sailed out friday morning, sailed back sunday morning for £34 and on the return what seemed like a fairly new ship. very modern. is there something i dont know about seafrance ?
  6. is there anyone living near amailloux dept 79 with any young teenagers. we have just bought a house there and hope to move in to it around july. we have 2 children aged 15 and 5, the 5 year old has no worries at all, but the 15 year old is quite worried about making new friends. he is in to the normal boy stuff, skateboarding, football, music etc. he has lots of friends here both male and female, hoping there might be others around that enjoy having a social life.  any response greatly appreciated steve and emma
  7. just bought a house in area 79 that is actually 2 houses that i will renovate to make one four bed house. at the moment it is numbered 8/10 and the road name. the first one being 3 beds , kitchen ,diner ,toilet etc. the second only a shell with a floor and from what i can make out has never really been used for anything, with one garden. does anybody have any knowledge on this. i am wondering if i will be charged 2 lots of habitation tax or any other double charges.
  8. thanks every body for your replies, has given me an idea of what to expect when i move in the summer. lots of plug changing!
  9. We will be moving to just outside Parthenay in around 6 months adn will be taking our two dogs with us, but we also have 2 Bearded dragon lizards and a corn snake, which we would be very reluctant to leave behind. We know that you can export reptiles but not too sure as to what the regulations are and the DEFRA website isn't overly helpful. The other concern that we have is the feeding of them. The lizards eat crickets as the main part of their diet and the snake eats fuzzy mice, (which you can buy here frozen and then defrost!) Does anyone have any ideas as to where to source the food for them? Driving around the area, there doesn't seem to be any sort of pet shop which is a little concerning especially for the dog food, and there were no signs of anything remotley reptiley at all!!! Catching crickets isn't an option because of the pesticide risk, and I don't fancy breeding mice for the snake, it just wouldn't seem right! (Contradiction I know, but when someone else has done the nasty bit for you it does feel better!) I would be grateful if anyone has any information. Thanks, Emma
