  1. We  only have a holiday home out in France , but it's in the outback where it gets very cold.We managed to buy a second hand Franco Belge in the UK which is a French make (you may be able to search for there website). Anyway this was around £250.00 secondhand and pumps out 11.7 kw. From this we run 4 tripple rads up in the bedrooms , which are like toast. To control the heat you can first of all turn down the woodburner to cut of the air supply which gives a slower burn and of course less heat. The other method is to open the bedroom doors!! I would say that for us it is a much cheaper system , our loacl French builder did the complete installation (with header tank etc) incl the installation of the burner. So our total costs were around £2000.00 but now we only need to light a fire down stairs to heat the whole house. Hope this helps you , if you need further info let me know.
  2. Yes we have been to a couple of the troc shops in Limoges and also Chateauroux on the way down. I do like a good look round Troc De L'ile. As you say it's a bit of a mixed bag but that is part of the fun. We did pop into the shop in Bourganeuf but at that time nothing much in there. Anyway if you do any interesting markets or shops please let me know.
  3. Yes we have tried a couple  and I do know of one just on the outskirts of Bourganeuf. But as you say you need to have a good look around. Which ones do you go to, or know of ?
  4. Does anybody know of any good furniture markets in the Creuse (near to Bourganeuf if possible) ? Last time we were out we did visit some of these so called markets but it was a lot worse than our boot fairs. We would love to buy some nice old furniture for our farm house rather than new furniture.
  5. I just wanted to know if there were any live web cams for  Lac de vassiviere or the surrounding area , even if it's one of the cows!!
