  1. I have a classic car and have managed to get a 'Certificate of conformity' from the manufacturers however (1) It is written in English. Will this be acceptable for re-registration in France or will I need to have it translated? And (2) If so can I provide a translation myself or, if not, who would have to do the translation?
  2. Our woodburner, a  'Villager' runs 24 hours, 7 days a week from November to March, I clean out the worst of the ashes, which become compressed and like clinker about once a month or whenever it gets too deep to get enough logs on. The ash bed itself holds a lot of heat. I always leave a couple of inches depth of ashes for the new fire to burn on. IOf your fire has a grate with bars, get a thick metal plate to fit on top of it. Wood burns best on a flat surface with no underneath air supply.
  3. Do also try www.notaires.fr. before anyone else.  Might save up to 3,000 or even more Euros in agent's commission.
  4. Have a look at SKYPE on your search engine, it is the one which everyone I know uses.
  5. Yep for orange it's mobicarte. Many big supermarkets that sell phones also sell them. NRJ lets you top up online, maybe orange offre the same system.
  6. Many bigger bar tabacs have top up cards, don't know the correct name but I ask for a carte mobile. Difficult to give a more detailed reply without knowing which system you are on and who your service provider is.
  7. I had exactly the same problem however, Dabsd seem to have realised their shortcomings and now offer at least som UK specific items, keyboards, software etc. Let's just hope that they expand the range. www.leschenauds.com
  8. We have a classic car, Reliant Scimitar and insured it with no problem with Aviva. All they needed was personal details, proof of NC bonus and UK log book. Incidentally we have had no problem getting it Controle techniqued here either. It has been on the road here for more than 5 years now.
  9. The Sat Nav systems do not "detect radars", they have an internal database of fixed radar locations and advise when you ar approaching the area. Carrefour at the moment are selling GPS based radar warning devices and they state, unambiguously' that they are legal systems.
  10. We are near Bourganeuf andf we got all our windows from Lapeyre in Limoges thay have different grades and both wood and PVC as well as doors and other similar bits, relatively cheap and seem to be excellent quality. They do provide a comprehensive catalogue which we have loaned to lots of visitors to our campsite who wished to refurbished houses but - in the nature of things , my copy has disappeared.
  11. Try     www.windowsbbs.com who have always sorted out any problems I've had quickly and effectively.
  12. We bought a NRJmobile sim card for 30 Euros which gives 6 Euros of talktime and option of topping up on line - can't fault the system. We bought our 2nd hand unlocked Nokia mobile from secondhand mobiles in the UK ( website something like that) - cost about £35.
  13. After getting the www.nrjmobile.fr reception page, and clicking on Mon Compte which is on the right hand side of the topbanner, all I get is a page telling me that - 'www.nrjmobile.fr will enable me to get a number of details.' All I seem to get is pages targetted at people who don't yet have an account. I have yet to find a screen where I have the opportunity of logging on with my phone number and access code. Is there a different web address which I should be calling up?
  14. It took 3 tries to get my message posted to the TV forum today. My last port now shows 1 reply but the reply itself does not show up. Have tried to trace through the postings of the member who replied but don't seem able to find all the posts of another person - Or is it just me?
  15. Trying to post for the third time today but the message never appears on the forum! I have a NRJ Mobile account - great system but does anyone know how I can find out the remaining credit on my account without the necessity of telephoning?
  16. Can anyone tell me how to find out the amount of credit remaining in my account, preferably without having to telephone and exercise my less than goo french?
  17. Got an account with NRJ Mobile, great system but can anyone tell me how to find out how much credit I have remaining without telephoning and asking (in bad French)?
  18. Tried Firefox, not bad but still prefer Opera. Have found that a few websites don't work on Firefox but haven't had any which don't work on Opera. After security problems, wild horses wouldn't make me use IE.
  19. Hi Opel Fruit, Expecting a warm and cosy Christmas thanks to your help. Hope that you have a good one and a happy new year. www.leschenauds.com
  20. Do listen to Opel Fruit, he has been most helpful. After following his advice, our system is now running perfectly. We did call in a CH engineer to set up the fuel pressure and air settings but he said ' I wouldn't charge for such a small job'. I gave him a bottle of scotch for his trouble and kindness. www.leschenauds.com
