  1. My French neighbour has asked can he travel to the UK using his Carte d'Identite? He said he has done it once however many years ago. Surely a passport is necessary now?
  2. I think language is the key.Unless you are able to speak fluently the language of your chosen country you will feel cut off, isolated. To be employed you must be able to read and write French and even then as a foreigner you have less chance of success. Vanessa
  3. Just wanted to wish well with your return to the UK. I know its not going to be easy. Love to you and your family. Keep in touch Vanessa
  4. We crossed for 5 days, 25.00 each way.Did not see the point in upgrading. We had a hot cappucino, too hot to hold and a danish pastry which was fine. The staff were pleasant and chatty. The journey time was 50 minutes as stated and as its the only service into Boulougne we were out in no time at all. The customs were very friendly and cheerful. It has taken 1/2 hour off our journey and we will be using them as much as we can. I understand the problems some have had with being charged for being late or changing the booking, but in all fairness it is clearly stated. As we have a short journey both sides of the Channel we can arrive at the necessary time barring road traffic accidents. If you can book far enough ahead the prices cannot be beaten. Bon Courage Speedferries!
  5. Has anyone used this service yet? How was it?
  6. Is anyone else waiting and hoping that this new service ( Dover - Boulogne)actually starts this year?It will be interesting to see their pricing structure. More information at www.speedferries.com
  7. Thanks for all your responses. I was looking for the 1957 film for a friend of my daughters. I didn't know there was a book. Who is the author? Vanessa
  8. Does anyone know if this film is available on DVD? If so where can I buy it. Vanessa
  9. Coco, look at an earlier thread on this forum, day to day money transfers posted by martinetchris. Extremely helpful. Bank of Scotland let you transfer money from your internet account for a fee of 5.00!!!!I will say no more, read on! Vanessa
  10. We too looked for a long time for a property in Saint Valery. We registered with all three notaires, Alain Barbier was the most helpful. We also registered with the estate agent Lamy, their web site comes under www.sergic.com. On our last visit another estate agent had set up shop but I can't remember the name at the moment. Now that we have bought our property in Saint Valery I didn't take a lot of notice. Good luck! Vanessa
