  1. Do you want a whole van or just space in one? (we recently shipped a couple of things over to Normandy that were to heavy and/ or large to put in our people carrier, even with seats out).
  2. I work in London and was in office on Thursday (stones throw from Liverpool st) when this occurred. Luckily I only had the inconvenience of disrupted journey home but my heart goes out to all who have lost loved ones or suffered injury. I think we all owe a huge debt of thanks to the emergency services who were really selfless and beyond praise. Anyway... the reason I post is to agree with all of Bill's comments. You cannot give in to terrorists and this problem was with us long before Afghanistan and Iraq were invaded. America is a convenient target for all the world's ills but lets remind ourselves WHO it was who insisted on getting involved to try and protect Muslims in the former Yugoslavia. I didnt see any of the European nations (including GB) leading the charge. As Dick says give them something and they will want more (plus you have given them encouragment). Plus what they want to achieve goes far beyond Westerners out of holy places in Middle East and the destruction of Israel.. what they want we cannot give them.
  3. I dont know the answer to your specific question, but I could dig out the e mail or phone number of the guy who installed ours if you need it.
  4. Had a smile on my face as I read previous posts. Been there, seen that :-) Have to admit not a lot of fun in middle of December deciding what electric heaters to turn off so you can boil a kettle. :-) As someone said it got to the stage I always carried a torch as evening came around. Touch wood, we uprated our supply form lowest to 2 above that (60 amp fuse I think) in April. The EDF guys had to do some extra work in our house but all went well and nothing has tripped the system since. The only problem we had (as 2nd home owners) was that EDF wanted more than a weeks notice so suggested we rang 2 weeks before returning to France. Seemed reasonable, until we rang from UK to be told contact them when in France (arghhh! catch 22!) But when we explained (with the help of a French friend) our visiting schedule they were really helpful and I cannot fault the 2 guys who turned up at our house to make the change.
  5. Just like to voice our support for Speedferries too. We travelled with them in February and the service was great and as mentioned before very friendly staff. We would travel by them on our next visit in April but they are down for maintenance. Extra competition will help ensure reasonable prices. Mind you, somewhere to get "duty frees" would be nice. So, if you want any drink or cigs to bring back, stop in a supermarket before getting to the port. Saying that, I think they are working on that and intend some sort of retail outlet from May (maybe on board?). Enjoy whats left of the Easter break
  6. coco Sorry hadnt checked the forum for a few days. Would appreciate the details if thats ok with you. Thanks
  7. Just wanted to say thanks to both the people who got in contact, much appreciated.
  8. Hi We have a 2nd home outside of Vire. We want to add a velux window but the builder who was recommended to us said we need a roofer not a builder for insurance reasons. Does anyone have any recommendations? Appreciate any help. Rich
