  4. Hi I currently live near Brest, Brittany since 2003. I have been working as a Charpenterie/ menuiserie for local companies for 7 years, until Thursday when my boss said that he is closing the company down. I have an option to receive training courses whilst i am on unemployment benefit. Which I will no doubt use. My Wife( who is French) and our 2 lovely kids want to really sell up here and move further south to benfit from the warmth etc. I was thinking of going for an Auto entrepeneur approach on things and offer services for renovation/ clearing / maintaining properties. Would a specific training course help me with giving out a profesional image? I appreciate that the economic situation is dire for most of europe, but feel that now is the time to move before the kids and me get too old. I have all my french social security numbers etc so i wont need to go through the bureaucratic procedures. As an Auto Entrepeneur can I still work part time with other builders? I think thats it for the time being, and thanks for reading my plea for advice. Tim
  5. We arelooking to move from Brittany down to the Poitou Charente. Reason= fed up with the wind and the humid conditions!!

  8. These are  a fairly new concept in France, and if the existing frames are sound then they are in fact a decent solution. They usually have corniers that have been cut for the inside and outside making the job smart. You in fact do loose 9 to 10 cm of the opening . thats all
  9. Anyone tried using a DAB radio in france to listen to BBC Channels etc? Not too sure if it would work .
  10. Just a quick question, which company has the best value for money rate for health insurance? I  have received a quote for my wife and I and  2 kids and it came to 129 euros a month. I appreciate it depends on the cover taken etc, but has anybody done a like for like? Is there not a french equivalent to Moneysupermarket.com?

  14. I have started to order some curry kits from the UK and so far they have been fantastic, better than a Takeaway. Have a look at this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Chicken-Tikka-Masala-from-The-Curry-Shop_W0QQitemZ320047436376QQihZ011QQcategoryZ14314QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  15. French car electrics are hopeless and should be treated with caution lol
  16. I recently bought one and had to travel to Euro Disney, it was fantastic no stress whats so ever.
  17. I agree I reckon its a Wheel Abs Sensor that has gone iffy. and the anti pollution filter may just be a French car Glitch. I would disconnect the battery for 30 minutes to see if the ECU can reset itself, and see what error messages come up afterwards. The ECU should have all faults logged in it  so the garage should of connected to it via the OBD port.
