Lets give Scientology a chance in there too! -
Chirac is to receive somewhere between 19000€ and 30000€ per month as a pension. I suppose that is reasonable after 40 years in politics. But why are the shredders going day and night in the Elysée? Does this happen in No.10 too?

The French ones are very early this year and are coinciding with the Spanish ones. Hence my hunt for low prices.

Ron, I've just had to remind myself what the Sun really looked right. Can you tell me how you actually manage to 'read' it?
-
By the way, what is the Daily Mail, Is it that thing which poisons the chips or which is cut into squares for the dungy at the bottom of the garden?
-
Actually on mature reflection I think Ron must be a Mail reader and, by the feel of it, a wind up merchant.
-
Ron, are you suggesting that the only way to get a balanced view in the UK is to read the Socialist Worker or Private Eye? Or is this meant to be a counterbalance to the Telegraph? I actually give myself the leisure to read the online versions of pretty well all the dailies but never considered Socialist Worker to be more than toilet paper. And do not brand me as a Tory or anything else if you don't mind.

It used to be puppies. Where in he**'s name are we going. Mark you it wasn't that long ago one could buy a wife in UK.

This is Blair's inheritance: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml;jsessionid=OA2B3OKPW3X0ZQFIQMGSFFOAVCBQWIV0?xml=/opinion/2007/05/14/do1402.xml

No, it is a privilege given to them temporarily by the ballot which is itself an act of trust. They abuse it at their peril. This bunch have abused it.
-
The problem is that politicians often think that taxing people is their right rather than a privilege that they should exercise with great care. Given the way that the present bunch of MP's have lined their nests, the word 'steal' may well be appropriate. Their cynicism is illustrated by the affair of the Commons freepost stationary.

It is not the fact that they have a pension but that they hazve given themselves such a large pension compared to the average Joe.
-
There is supposed to be a glut of strawberried this year, but is this really being reflected in the prices? The local Super U has them at 2.90 for a half kilo whilst the LeClerc is at 1.90 for 550 grams. How do your prices compare?

As a kid in Africa we had it drummed into us that snakes and sharks were merciless killers. Frankly I see no reason to change my mind. So, hornets go and I always make a noise and slap vegetation befor going into it. Or send the dog though he is usually there before me anyway. But I do agree that hornets are fascinating creatures.

Yes Dick, it is a brilliant speech. I had forgotten the Men in general ... line which is so very apt. Played in it, studied it so long ago. Were we ever than young?
-
UK not selfish? Give me a break. How much do MPs now get as a pension compared to the rest of the country?
-
As a result, more kids than ever are in private schools, more people than ever cannot afford their own home, the NHS is now to be a seriously rationed service depending on your postcode (one example, look at UK cancer treatment), the morale of our armed forces is a wreck, there are huge numbers of illegal immigrants in the country, taxes are higher than ever and many mojor City institutions are actively considering moving their HQ out of UK...... I'm not sure I want to go on, it is too painful. And selfishness did not start with Thatcher. However, she did not set out to enrich herself as the Blairs have done (Dennis had already done that). And just compare Willie Whitelaw with Piggy Prescott for political and public stature.

Make sure your domestic cats are getting their food. In my experience they will often give way to the kittens and the mother so maybe feed them separately for the moment.

Nah, lets keep trying to make them blush.

So whats the verdict on Blair - out of 10? Was he a statesman? I fear his porkies will preclude that for the foreseeable future. . Is it a case of the 'good that we do dies with us but the bad lives on'?
