  1. What about the actor... Paul Newman? he was Jewish and had blue eyes!!!
  2. Have you noticed that according to UK TV people who have bought houses have become Ho Moaners !!! I think I will remain a Home Owner, How about you?
  3. We have been and followed the signs for Press, VIPs, etc. on the North side and had no trouble. There was a car park and one for disabled which was just across the road from the exhibition. I would suggest you show your disabled card in order to get as close as you can and as said before leave as early as you can.  Enjoy the day, we were very impressed with the way our 'cousins' put on the show.  If you can manage it take the boat ride too.   Good Luck
  4. Thank you Riff Raff,  I know the Village you are in and I am aware of the contact you mention, however he is not the type of Chiropractor I am looking for. I thnk he goes for the more gentle touch.   Many thanks...............PS. Nice Gites
  5. Thank you both for your information. The vital page in 'Pages jaunes', would you believe it, are missing? This is not a problem I can look at someone elses.  Am I right in assuming that you are involved in the practice '5-element'? if so would an osteopath do the same spinal manipulation? I have found in the past that this gives almost instant relief. Thank you again
  6. Hello All,  Is it possible that anyone out there would know of a Clunk Click type of Chiropractor anywhere in theVendee.? It's not the gentle massage I need but the good old sound of a crunch in the back. In anticipation.....Thanks
  7. Hello DAVEF, Try the following link I hope it helps.....http://www.vendee-tourism.co.uk/discover/Cycling-in-Vendee.html   Good Luck
  8. Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone. The British are known for their satire....Long may it continue
  9. Hmm. Probably exactly what the French think when they see all us Brits/Dutch/Germans loafing around, perhaps the Polish etc folk in Britain are only there because "it suits them best at the moment" and you can move back as they move out? Still, that wouldn't avoid your main problem, that will never go away, white scally Brits and small minded reactionaries I'm not going to rise to the bait Bones. We all have our opinions on France and the UK and the right to express them.
  10. Hi Tresco, We are now both retired, thank goodness. Worked hard for it and have just returned from Spain with the caravan after two months in the sun. Now live in the Vendee.
  11. I am not denying the acting ability of the people mentioned. These people are funny without the need for what probabaly most of the viewers would call bad language. If they are unable to communicate their humor without the use of 'bad language' it must show a limited knowledge of the English vocabulary? Swearing used to be the first line of defence in a confrontation, now the first line of defence  is violence. I would guess that the majority of young people involved in violent situations today have a very limited awareness of the Queens English. ''Ah fink ya no wot ah meen annat'' Other...uvver, brother....bruvver, think....fink, thought....fawt........and so on. I can accept that all things change over a period of time but why should they do so in favour of the uneducated?????
  12. Is the Katherin Tate show also representative of British TV? I have only seen it twice but I find the language illustrates the gradual decline of not only British TV but of the UK.....Poor old Britain  ???
  13. You have stirred up some memories Sweet. My wife and I were back in the UK last February, do I miss it? yes and no. The England I miss no longer exists. Some areas are slow to change, thank goodness but will catch up eventually. The once pretty villages are less pretty, people seem to be very stressed and  the roads are a nightmare. I find the language in some parts difficult to understand, with so many people 'finking about free farsand fings anat'. We did visit one Town, near where we once lived. Most of  the language we heard during the day was foreign, the indigenous people were  probably at work.  Here in France, my wife can walk down the street at night alone and pass groups of youngsters without fear. We can drive greater distances in a shorter time on very good uncrowded roads. I could go on and on about the good and the bad of France and England. At the end of the day we live in a country that suits us best at the moment. That, is not to say that we would never return to 'Blighty', after all it is our Mother Country, regardless of what the Politicians do to it. There will always be an England!!!!!
  14. Hello Jonzjob,  Thank you for your rapid reply and the information on clubs. It does look as tho' there is a club quite near me but as my wife and I are off to the sun for a couple of months I will persue it further on our return. From what I can gather a licence is required to fly models in France, is that correct? Also is it cheaper to buy kits in France or the UK? Any information, tips, things I should know etc. would be gratefully received Regards Ed.
  15. Hello All, Is there anyone who knows of any aero modelling clubs or groups in the Vendee. I have always had an interest in flying model aircraft but never had the time. Now, with retirement I have the time but no contacts. In anticipation, Thanks.

  18. Anyone who votes for the left (bourgeois communists) need their heads examined. Just look at the poor UK after Blair and his 'friends' have been in power. Any Prime Minister who would have the likes of Prescott as his Deputy must be on the wrong road. Do not forget why some of you have chosen to live outside the UK. If the Socialist ( Left ) win France, then many more higher tax paying French people will leave France and take their buying power with them.
  19. I did see some roundabouts going up in in our local town last week?
  20. Chrissie, you want.......www.pagesjaunes.fr      Put in your details then follow directions. Good luck
  21. Just look at the BBC news and read an English newspaper every morning. You will then realize why you have chosen to live in France !!!!
  22. Does anyone know of an English speaking Dentist in the Chantonnay- Chataigneraie- Fontenay- triangle. Or within reasonable reach? In anticipation, Thank you.
  23. On Monday 1st of May at 11. 30ish am.  I passed a group of cyclists on the aforesaid road, mostly wearing yellow tops. I may be wrong , but they had an English look about them and were about my age (retired). They were also going at about my speed!!!  If by any chance anyone reading this knows who these riders are, I would be very interested in meeting them. Riding alone is OK, but it is nice to have company now and again.
