  1. Hello, Coprolite was my University name and wind up? I don't see one here.
  2. Any-one get the new Brit-mag Nov-Dec...? There is a mugshot of Nick Trollope that makes him look like Bilbo Baggins! He is a property services fellow too! Do you do gardening as well Nick?
  3. Hello, interesting chat with my new French gardener. He charges 30euros per hour. He is allowed 40% for business expenses on the micro regime (12euros) then the socialcharges are 48% of his profit 18euros minus 8.64euros gives him 9.36euros in his pocket. Although suprised I was asking him this he was even more suprised to see to quotes from the other British 'Property services' some at only 10euros per hour but 3 times the actual hours required in the garden. This firm is only pocketing 3.12 euros by this calculation! Unless as my gardener suggests that its all being paid in sterling/euro cash. He has various horticultural awards and is a real gardener. At 30euros per hour not a bargain but at least he can do more than cut the grass.
  4. These 'property services' that do the turn arounds for gites. How many gites can one or two people turn around in a weekend? I imagine not much call for a Monday turnaround service...
  5. If these postings are indeed a wind up then they are working very well indeed judging by the reverberations on other threads.
  6. Good evening,  I have checked out the two lowest quotes. They are both registered, one as a 'Paysagist' and one as 'Property services' If the social charges plus business costs are as high as this forum suggests then they are on a hiding to nothing... or they simply don't actually work the hours they quote. I am a keen amateur gardener here in the U.K and know that just cutting the grass is only a small part of gardening. I think that in my case a real gardener rather than 'property services' is called for.
  7. In the central brittany journal there is a firm advertising garden services from 10 euros per hour. Thats got to be a joke eh? Or prehaps they work very slowly.
  8. Can anyone tell me why people who offer 'property services' are so much cheaper than professional gardeners? I have recently recieved several quotes from enterprises for the care of our garden and those from the former are around 10-20euros per hour whilst those from actual gardening firms are 26-36euros per hour. Is there some kind of tax benefit in being a gite owner that allows them to work for so much less or is it that the gardeners have invested in so much more in specialised equipment? It was interesting to note that all the cheap hourly rates also quoted 2-4 times more hours than the actual gardeners!
  9. So when is a crime not a crime? Is not paying insurance/tax on a vehicle and working on the black acceptable here? Would you turn the other cheek if you saw a burgler taking your neighbours goods as he is obviously just 'making a living'? So you would not tell eh? Although would you not be the first to kick up a fuss should it be your trade being affected by travail noir or your car hit by an uninsured driver. Sneaking? The Jews where innocent where as uninsured drivers are criminals. Keep it in touch here. Its not going to lead to the genocide of anygroup of people.
