Sorry to have confused Tuppence, it does sound dns related to me, but as this is supplied by your LSP I suspect the problem may be there as AnOther implies.  If you were more technical I would suggest comparing accessing IP addresses directly with their URL equivilents, though a change of LSP seems to be the best bet in the long run.

You might try flushing the dns, do not worry what that means, but open a command box by holding down the Windows key and pressing r, then type cmd and hit return.  Type in ipconfig /flushdns and you should see the response "Windows IP Configuration Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache."

It might be worth checking the connections are all tight if you are confident to take it apart.  Replacement screens can be sourced for a reasonable amount from if you are able to fit yourself.

...and unpasteurised cheddar from around Cheddar easily beats any cheddar I have tried elsewhere, but I agree with Chancer it is an unfair comparison.  Why isn't cheddar only from the Cheddar area, Stilton is only from Stilton, Roquefort from Roquefort etc?

Yes I agree; so if it is a simple matter of selling on an old PC with nothing too sensitive on it just use something like dban and forget it, or if there is potentially something on the hard disk that you will worry about take it out of the case and take a hammer to it.

This sounds like an installed application rather than a feature of the product to me, so have a look in control panel and see if there has been any new programs installed.

The service is linked to your username and possibly phone number, so no the NIC in this case is not relevent, however the ip addressing uses mac addresses within its protocols as they represent a physical address rather than the logical one that ip is.
