  1. don't know why it cut it out but my earlier message should have shown that i was not intending to offend anyone from essex more trying to convey that alec goes all over the place.
  2. alec is based in essex but don't let that put you off . give him a ring and discuss what load you have. he has van and a trailer. only he can say what he can say what load he can manage.

  5. someone please could you translate. i understand the intention of the phrase but my brain stopped play just now trying to think of an interpretation, the literal translation, blow of heart, is clearly not right. put me out of my misery. thanks
  6. apologies in advance if this is advertising but i'd like to add myself to the number of people on la mairie who have commented postiviely on using Alec Day to transport their personal effects to france. alec recently took my stuff over and did everything he said he'd do, was reliable and really helpful. e.mail me if you'd like his contact number.

  8. dear all many thanks for your practical, helpful suggestions and good wishes.
  9. i wonder if anyone could offer me some advice about what to take into account when considering just covering the annual cost of having a home in france by letting it as a holiday home. i am not necessarily looking to make a profit. i would e.g. count bills such as heating, lighting, water, insurance, local taxes and cost of a person to keep an eye on it and get the house ready for people but assume i need to consider an amount for maintenance. have i missed anything else? i realise this is a bit like how long is a piece of string but if it helps the house has 3 beds and has undergone extensive renovation so is in good shape.
