1. Took the children out for a walk yesterday and on the way back found three tabby kittens in an old washing powder box which had been tied up and thrown over a hedge.  They are gorgeous and have the loudest purrs I have heard in a long time.  Considering their treatment, they are very affectionate and love nothing more than to be groomed by "mum" after they have eaten.  I think they are about six weeks old?  Please can anyone take one or even two of these budles of fluff?  Pleeeeeeease.  I would dearly love to keep all three but I have three of my own.  I can give one a home but the others need a comfy corner by your stove and lots of love. In return they will, I am sure, catch mice and give you endless cuddles (known as comfy wumfs in this house).[:D] We are near Percy (50)

  4.
I fail to understand WHY we can't take our own paperbacks and magazines on board! to help pass the time... What about parents with very young kids! I always had a couple of books or comics for my children on any journey once the interest in the 'I spy' game or the 'adding up' game had waned off...
They have obviously watched one too many Bond films and feel that a terrorist who is in to Origami, might fashion a weapon out of odds and ends of mags and books (Scaramanga style) and put it to use to take over the plane.   How about a game of Chinese Whispers instead - should prove interesting with a few hundred people taking part.[;-)]
  5.
Hi Harley, the videos for Girls on Film & Come Undone were censored, I think there was another too. One was very er..........................well, you know![:$] I hope when it arrives, you enjoy revisiting your teenage years.
Just found the Girls on Film video on the Web.  Good grief!  I'm sure that was never on Top of The Pops[:$] Definately a lads video - all that naked mud wrestling and................[+o(]
  6. Oh my, Twinkle.  Where did you find that?  Yep, Spandau Ballet, Wham, A-Hah, Pet Shop Boys, Nik Kershaw.....................Poptastic! Just had a damn good dance round my handbag to very loud Duran Duran[:-))]
  7. I have a Duran Duran cd which my children love and so I decided to find a DVD of their videos.  I was amazed to see an 18 certificate on the box - did I miss something when I was a teenager or what?[geek]  Waiting with baited breath for it to arrive - won't tell the kids - I'm so naieve sometimes.  I might find it still inappropriate for me, twenty years on[:$]
  8.
I don't think we've met Harley but hi anyway. Chris
If you put you chainsaw down for a mo I'll shake your hand - hello Chris[:$]
  9. I am looking for the best place to insure the newly aquired family pony.  She has just been vaccinated and puced and I want to get this covered too.  Any recommendations?  Thanks.[:D]
  10.
Harley - we've probably got some figures somewhere so we can give you a comparison. What is the square metre-age you're covering?
They have made such a ruddy mess in the garage (broken tiles, blocks and readmix leftovers and all thoroughly uneven) I don't know how they have managed to calculate how much they will need - I certainly couldn't - I'm a woman - I know "my limits"[:P]  It would take a man to make that sort of calculation and then I'm sure he'd over-estimate[:-))].  Only joking guys[kiss] I don't want to find myself paying for someone else's garage floor too - no surely not.........................[;-)]
  11.

What' wrong with Ceroc.
Hello Harley[:)] Never mind what's wrong with it. What is it?
You have all seen Grease (the movie) I'm sure.  Well picture the gym scene where they are taking part in the "dance off" and that's pretty much Ceroc - without the mooning of course.  Once you get a good speed going it's fantastic - as with most things[:$]
  12. We have just been quoted 2500euros to concrete the garage/cellier floor of our new house.  Encaissement                     Quantity 29.60     547.60Euros Sable                                       ""     29.60     455.84Euros Polyane                                    ""     29.60      74.00Euros Beton type BAN                      ""     29.60       970.88Euros Plus tax Does this look reasonable to you guys?     I know this should include someone actually doing the physical work as well - at least I hope so. Our local builders merchant sells builders sand at 15euros per ton.[8-)]
  13.
>>>Chris - teach your neighbours the 'Boat Dance' and be done with it!<<< Or the Conga! and they'll teach you Cérock! Can't decide which of all these dances is most cringeing....
What' wrong with Ceroc.  When I last went (UK) the hall was filled with youngsters (I'm in my thirties - everyone's younger).  If done correctly it's fantastic (as with most things).  Helps if your partner is "fit" though.[:-))]

  15.

I think the entire house buying process in France stinks !
I suspect the half million expats who bought their french houses without any problem and without the fear of gazumping, broken chains, etc which are commonplace in the UK housing market will probably disagree with you.... [8-)] People have a right to express their misgivings, but let's keep things in perspective.
Ok so how many people who read this Forum have found themselves to be oneof the above.  Sadly, we would not be able to add ourselves into this group when either purchasing or selling our first home in France.  It would be nice to hear from those that had the above experience.  It would give us all hope[;-)]
  16. We are not Catholic but we enroled our children in the local Catholic Primaire (private).  The school is fantastic.  They have gone out of their way to help the children settle in.  The teacher went out and bought work books (the ones you find in the supermarkets) for the children to work through in class and they allowed them a certain amount of time (2months) during which time they would speak to them in English.  After that they had to use the French they had learnt.  I can't praise them or thank them enough.  My eldest was allocated a "friend" to help her out and they continue to be best friends three years on.[:D]
  17. TOP TIPS TO TRY TO AVOID NASTY SITUATIONS WITH IMOBILLIERS: I wouldn't: PAY MY DEPOSIT TO AN AGENT SIGN A COMPROMIS DE VENT DRAWN UP BY AN AGENT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL IT HAD BEEN THOROUGHLY TRANSLATED BY AN INDEPENDANT TRANSLATOR I would: DO MY HOMEWORK - LOOK FOR RECOMMENDATIONS EMPLOY AN INDEPENDANT TRANSLATOR (WHO KNOWS THE INDUSTRY) AND NOT ONE RECOMMENDED BY THE AGENT.  EVEN IF THE AGENT SPEAKS ENGLISH! PAY DEPOSIT DIRECTLY TO MY NOMINATED NOTAIRE. Feel free to correct me on this but I don't think they have to be in the same town as the agent.  In fact I would prefer it if they were not. REMEMBER THAT THE AGENT IS IN BUSINESS - AND THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THEY WANT THEIR MONEY - THEY ARE NOT MY BEST FRIEND - KEEP IT STRICTLY BUSINESS AND FORMAL - NO FIRST NAME NONSENSE FOR ME. REMEMBER THAT IF THE SALE CAN ONLY BE COMPLETED "SUBJECT TO" THAT THESE CLAUSES ARE IN THE CDV BEFORE I SIGN.  I.E. MORTGAGE, CLEARANCE OF ALL RUBBISH FROM HOUSE, REPAIRS TO HOUSE, PLANNING CONSENT INCLUDING  THE DATES BY WHICH TIME THESE THINGS SHOULD BE DONE. Feel free to add any suggestions.  Anything to stop another individual going through the potential misery we did[:(]

    Itchy topic!

Having washed the children's hair this evening I noticed that they have the dreaded headlice.  This is the first time any of them have had them so I would appreciate some advice as to the best treatment here in France.  Will go to the chemist first thing in the morning. Yuk[+o(]
  19. Not sure if I should put this in here or another spot but........here we go.  We would like to put up a post and rail fence.  Not only around the garden but also a small field.  Has anyone done this and could you give me an idea of cost and best place to purchase the timber.  It would need to be sufficiently strong to contain a pony with the added help of electric fencing.  We are not far from Villedieu Les Poeles(50). Thanks [:)]
  20. What is it about collar and cuffs matching with you guys!  Do ladies not mind if a chap has to dye his hair?  Perhaps we are interested in more important things..................................like the length of his tie[;-)]
  21. Has anyone mentioned Kenny Everett.  I thought he was hilarious when I was "younger".  A bit near the mark but it was all done "in the best possible taste!" [;-)]  I was so naive back then a lot of it went over my head anyway.[:$]
  22.
Where does poo come from?   George Bush & Tony Blair i'd say.
So, to gather info from these and other Politicians do journalists use a Poop Scoop?[;-)]
  23. Seeing Red Dwarf in the lists reminded me of the episode where they went to the back to front planet and Cat went off in the bushes for a Poo!   Laughed 'til I cried[:-))] I had forgotten about the Muppet Show - my children love it - the original shows that is - wasn't funny when they went politically correct. Why is it that modern writers feel that they can't get a laugh without being really insulting, foul mouthed or thoroughly vulgar.[+o(]  It is possible to acheive if you have talent.[:D]
  24. Caught the last half of "50 Greatest Comedy Sketches" last night.  I think it was on Channel Four.  I was quite looking forward to a bit of light entertainment before I went to bed and some clips were not bad but the likes of The League of Gentlemen, Little Britain and Bo' Selecta which I don't normally watch anyway didn't do a thing for me. I always get a laugh from watching people like: The Two Ronnies Morecombe and Wise French and Saunders Paul Whitehouse/Harry Enfield Jasper Carrott Billy Connelly Dave Allen Oh, and Monty Python, but I just didn't like these new shows.  Didn't find them in the least bit funny or entertaining.[+o(]  Do any of you enjoy these programmes?  What is it you like about them?  Am I just getting old?  Will I start saying the music is too loud soon.................Naah! What makes you all laugh...........What does it for you?[:-))]
