Hi Quillan, Thanks for the advice.  I'm hoping I've now finally seen the back of Teleconnect. Just waiting for them to cash their final demand (for €2.50!)  then good riddance.  I suppose what makes them attractive as a company is it suits our laziness for learning another language, but there is a serious downside to this 'benefit' - a lack of service, a lack of care, a general lack of resources.  Is this really what we want in a telecommunications company?

Also being a complete novice, I've been bought the 'The Ultimate Pool Maintenance Manual' by Terry Tamminen (£14.83 from Amazon.co.uk). It's quite a tome, but seems to be pretty much exhaustive and has a very good section on removing algae (which is my main problem!). I don't know much about auto chlorine, but having just come back from South Africa, ther they all seem to like the auto-dispensers that float around on the surface of the pool and last about a month. I've seen them in plenty of French supermarkets. They're also quite cheap.

I wonder if anyone has had a recent happy experience with a Swimming Pool installer in the L'Aude / Carcassonne area? We have a very elderly liner pool that we want to enlarge and tile, along with building a new pool house, terracing and landscaping. Recommendations gratefully received!
